Dead at Heart (Ariel and Jayson) novel Chapter 566

Chapter 566

Nancy’s throat constricted. She stared at Arthur with a look of bewilderment on her face.

She thought she had probably misheard him. Raindrops rolled down her face. It was so cold that Nancy was finding it hard to process what was happening.

What?

Even though Arthur spoke politely, it only made him appear even colder and merciless. We’re simply giving you a suitable suggestion. Ms. Stanton, we hope you’ll get the matter sorted out as soon as possible.

Arthur did not waste his time standing there. After telling Nancy everything he needed to inform her

about, Arthur walked past her and entered the house.

Nancy stood by the door in a daze for quite some time. She couldn’t understand how things had turned

out this way.

She was shaking all over uncontrollably. Nancy was both furious and terrified.

Ariel Walkershe muttered inwardly. 1

Her mind was filled with only one thought. Ariel must be behind this. She must have done something or said something to Jayson. Otherwise, why would Jayson do this to her? 1

Nancy subconsciously tried to shift the blame to Ariel. Yet, as she got drenched in rain, the cold, hard

facts that lay before her shattered all the lies she had been telling herself.

Although Jayson hadn’t glared or shouted at her at any point, Nancy couldn’t help but notice the cold,

detached look in his eyes.

All along, Jayson had been standing on a high pedestal while looking down at her. Without needing to do much, he had Nancy in the palm of his hand.

Jayson could go along with Nancy’s requests or satisfy her wishes occasionally. Doing these favors meant nothing to him.

However, from Nancy’s perspective, she would naturally assume Jayson was giving her preferential

treatment.

Nancy felt as though her heart had been torn into a million pieces as reality hit her.

Upon receiving such a huge blow, Nancy’s eyes turned red. She clenched her jaw hard. Nancy simply could not accept the fact that Jayson had no feelings for her at all.

He was even going to take away the last safe haven she had when she was already in deep water.

Nancy knew very well that Jayson would not change his mind, no matter how long she waited and tried to plead for his mercy.

When she got back inside her car, Nancy recalled asking Jayson that question outside the hotel the other

day.

Back then, Jayson merely looked at her and smiled languidly. He didn’t even respond to her question.

It was Matt, who came out a bit later and heard her question, who answered, No one would hate a smart

and beautiful woman.

Jayson did not refute his words.

At the time, Nancy thought Jayson agreed with Matt too. Moreover, that was what she believed

wholeheartedly as well.

If she could come in first place at the competition, Jayson would surely choose her and stop paying any

attention to Ariel. After that, it would only be a matter of time before Jayson discarded Ariel.

Yet, everything fell apart, whether it was Nancy’s life, her pride, or her beliefs.

She wondered what Jayson had thought of her all this time. Did he think that she was hilarious? Nancy

had even asked Jayson to marry her when the person she had slept with the other day was someone else.

Nancy looked bitter and devastated on her way home. 1

She couldn’t accept that it was all over for her while Ariel was gaining fame and recognition.

How did things turn out like this? Ariel was supposed to fail miserably like Elena did and face ruin. How could Ariel even think about getting ahead and trampling all over her?

As Nancy became fixated on that thought, her eyes turned red. Her eyes burned with resentment.

When she returned to her neighborhood, Nancy nearly crashed into a tree by the roadside because she
