“Jayson, what’s the meaning of this?” The corners of Nancy’s eyes turned red. She tried very hard to suppress the emotions surging through her.
Jayson directed his gaze to her. Even though he had a calm look in those deep–set eyes, Nancy couldn’t help feeling this chilliness around her upon sensing his gaze.
“I arrived here late since I had to handle another matter first. Did it bother you?” Jayson’s tone was flat
and steady.
However, Nancy’s heart missed a beat.
Ariel had a dawning realization the moment she saw Nancy. Who else would try to plot something like that against her at a time like this?
Nevertheless, Ariel was surprised that Nancy would go so far as to attempt something so wicked and
appalling when the latter knew the government was coming after her.
Instead of running away at once, Nancy decided to get rid of Ariel permanently before she tried to escape.
“Is that so? I thought you weren’t coming.” Nancy steadied her voice. She looked as though she had no
idea about the matter Jayson had to handle earlier.
Jayson fixed her with a frigid gaze. He didn’t want to waste time dragging this out with Nancy. “I’ll give you two options. One, apologize to Ariel and ask for her forgiveness. Two, Arthur will snap those dirty
hands of yours.” 1
Shocked, Ariel’s eyes narrowed. Those words were completely unexpected from someone as calm and
cultured as Jayson.
Nancy’s eyes hardened, then widened in disbelief.
Arthur was someone Jayson had recruited from abroad. On the surface, he was Jayson’s secretary, but he
was also Jayson’s bodyguard. Colton had previously warned Nancy that Arthur never held back against
his targets.
As for the apology, Nancy could tell that a simple “sorry” wouldn’t be enough to do the job.
She could sense that Jayson was fuming despite his aloof and indifferent demeanor; his words were harsh and threatening.
Even Ariel was a bit surprised as she snuck a glance at Jayson.
“He’s… angry?” Ariel pondered.
Nancy clenched her jaw and asked stiffly, “What did I do wrong? Why should I apologize to her?”

Jayson dropped his gaze and replied straightforwardly, “If you refuse to do it, you won’t be able to leave Eldoria tonight.”
Nancy gasped, staring at Jayson in horror. She hadn’t expected him to know about her plan to sneak out of the country with the help of her connections.
In an instant, Nancy was engulfed in cold, unsettling despair.
Jayson had rarely shown such a cool, unfriendly side of himself. He took out a box of cigarettes and tried
to light one.
Suddenly, he hesitated. Jayson’s gaze drifted toward Ariel. With an impassive face, he tossed the box of cigarettes into the car.
Then, he cast Nancy a sidelong glance.
Ariel took a glance at Jayson.
They had been together for a while and once looked very sweet. But the moment Nancy faced trouble, Jayson put his own interests first. Even though she was someone he once cared for, he had no problem ending their relationship and severing all ties with her right away.
At least, that was what Ariel had observed so far.
She knew very well that Jayson was helping to seek justice on her behalf.
Frankly speaking, Ariel wasn’t the one who had instigated these incidents. She was well aware of that
fact.
Nancy was feeling anxious and restless.
The time for her departure to another country was slowly drawing closer. She would miss her chance to leave if she stayed there any longer.
