Dead at Heart (Ariel and Jayson) novel Chapter 803

Ariel was caught completely off guard. Her pupils constricted in an instant.

Even if she refused to believe it, hearing those words made her heart twist painfully.

"Samson Pryce! What do you mean by that?" Her voice, usually gentle, snapped sharp and cutting.

Her gaze, no longer veiled by polite civility, was cold enough to wound.

That look made Samson quietly amused. How much did she hate him? All it took was a single sentence to stir her into this fury?

He stepped closer, studying every subtle expression on her face in the dim night. As if he wanted to witness the pain of her accepting the truth, he deliberately said, "There's no need to be so surprised. What I'm saying is a fact. Otherwise, why would I let you stay here?"

Ariel's fists trembled, but her gaze remained sharp and unforgiving.

Samson didn't like seeing her like this, but he didn't mind. He leaned down toward her. "Ariel, Jayson's dead. He's not in this world anymore. You need to move on."

For some reason, he even smiled while saying it. He was as cheerful as ever, yet so different from the young man she once knew.

Only now did Ariel understand why Jayson had once described Samson the way he did.

Despite his youth, his temperament, insight, ruthlessness, and craftiness were terrifying. There wasn't a trace of weakness.

Ariel let out a chuckle. "Do you fear him so much that you wish he'd die?"

Samson knew exactly that she was hitting a sore spot, but he didn't care. Jayson's chances of survival were slim. Whether it was his own grudges or Cecilia's vendetta, it was all settled.

"Seems like you still don't believe me." Samson looked at her reddening eyes with a hint of sorrow.

He asked slowly, "Have you ever heard of the Nielsen family?"
