Dead at Heart (Ariel and Jayson) novel Chapter 806

Wade agreed with Jayson's opinion. He checked the information he had received. "Our officials have already stepped in and are speaking to Bellador's officials. We should hear back soon since we alerted them almost immediately."

With Croinia's Department of Foreign Affairs stepping in, the Bellador officials would certainly cooperate fully in their search efforts.

Jayson nodded. This was exactly what he had hoped to achieve. Not only did he want to buy time by notifying their government, he also planned to put his plan B into motion.

He glanced at his phone. "Since we have others here who can provide us assistance, I want to use the satellites to locate Ariel, and deploy drones to widen the search. Besides, we have plenty of drone pilots here."

The team cooperated with Jayson without hesitation.

Ariel's safety was their top priority. Croinia's senior officials treated the incident with gravity because of Ariel's unusual background and status.

Almost everyone was mobilized. They also used whatever connections they had to secure various permissions.

Three hours later, Jayson was watching a particular piece of surveillance footage. He saw the cars that had transported Ariel and the others leaving the safe zone.

His brow tightened the next instant.

Gustavo's cars appeared on the screen.

Jayson felt his chest tighten as if someone were squeezing it. If Gustavo could find him, the man would surely be able to recognize Ariel. If Gustavo had taken her...

"Wait! Ari and the others were taken away by another group of men!" Janice exclaimed, pointing to a corner of the screen.

Another group had arrived in that area. The negotiations between the two groups finished in minutes. They seemed to know each other.

But when they tried to trace Ariel's destination, the signal was cut and the footage ended at that frame. They had no record of what happened afterward.

At least they confirmed Ariel had left the safe zone. Still, the fact that she had not contacted them was strange and unsettling.

Jayson lowered his gaze and pondered deeply.

He was relatively certain Ariel was alive for now. Yet her abductors had not revealed themselves or their motives. He could not shake the feeling that they were still trying to gain leverage.
