Dead at Heart (Ariel and Jayson) novel Chapter 807

Jayson subconsciously tightened his grip on his phone when he heard that. A cold gleam flickered in his eyes, and his lips curved into a dangerous smirk. "It's like you have eyes everywhere, Mr. Pryce."

Samson caught the hint of hostility in Jayson's tone. But since he had already revealed his trump card, he was determined to make full use of it—especially now that he held such a powerful "weapon" in his hands.

"I'm sure you understand, Mr. Larkin, that businessmen only care about results. Everyone will do whatever it takes to reach their goals. You've been my role model in that regard."

In truth, learning about the baby's existence had caught Samson off guard. He had been furious when he first found out. He couldn't even explain why—after all, the child had nothing to do with him.

But he couldn't forget how he had once tried to get rid of the baby. Somehow, the child had survived and become the very bond tying Ariel and Jayson together again.

The thought of it made Samson's blood boil.

Still, he kept his composure.

It quickly occurred to him that the baby Jayson had fought so hard to protect could now serve as the perfect hostage.

While Jayson was preoccupied with Ariel's disappearance, he couldn't possibly monitor what was happening in Nacsall. Samson had already sent his men there and expected results by tomorrow night. It was far too late for Jayson to stop them from taking the baby away.

That was why Samson had called to negotiate and lay out his demands.

"Think carefully, Mr. Larkin. Do you want to keep earning all that profit—or be with Ariel and your... child?"

Samson's tone was smooth and unhurried. He wasn't the least bit anxious; from his perspective, the odds were entirely in his favor. He practically had Jayson in the palm of his hand.

Judging from how meticulously Jayson had worked to protect the baby, Samson knew both Ariel and the child meant far more to him than anything else.

A mocking smile tugged at Samson's lips.

The man who had been so cruel and merciless to Cecilia could actually be this loving and affectionate. In a way, Samson felt as though Jayson was mocking both him and Cecilia through his actions.
