Dead at Heart (Ariel and Jayson) novel Chapter 859

Wade took the initiative to ask Janice to talk alone.

Nicholas immediately waved at Janice with a satisfied smile, "What are you waiting for? You two have been in a long-distance relationship all this time. Now that Wade is transferred back, you can finally bond properly."

Janice looked at Wade, puzzled.

Wade simply nodded and silently turned to walk outside without a word.

Janice had no choice but to follow him.

The courtyard lights were still on. Wade stopped at a spot where their conversation couldn't be overheard and turned to look at her.

"What's with that expression?" Janice noticed Wade's restrained mood and the way he looked at her, which was devoid of any warmth.

It made her uncomfortable for no reason. She had always been sensitive to Wade's every move and expression. He was definitely in a bad mood now.

"What are you trying to do?" Wade's tone was cold, but he didn't lash out at her.

Janice was even more confused. "What are you talking about?"

From Wade's perspective, her reaction seemed like she was pretending nothing had happened.

If Alicia hadn't told him about today's meeting between the families, what would Janice have told Charles?

"If you didn't want to break off the engagement, you didn't have to do it this way. Keeping me in the dark solves nothing. I'm your fiance. Even if you secretly agreed on a wedding with my dad, who can force me if I don't want to get married? Even if you're going back on your words, being honest isn't shameful."

His tone remained steady, as if stating a fact, but underneath was a reproach for her "taking matters into your own hands".

Janice finally understood.
