Dead at Heart (Ariel and Jayson) novel Chapter 877

The guests were all seated.

Ariel glanced over her shoulder toward the door. It opened slowly, and Nicholas appeared, leading Janice down the aisle with her hand resting lightly on his arm.

The guests noticed nothing amiss. Some even raised their phones to snap photos.

Ariel pressed her lips into a thin line. Sadness welled up inside her as she took in Janice's beautiful face. She had endured similar situations before, and she knew all too well how agonizing this must be for Janice and how much scorn and scrutiny would follow her after today.

Nicholas guided Janice to the podium, frowning slightly when he realized Wade was nowhere in sight.

Janice gave his arm a gentle pat, signaling him to return to his seat. Nicholas thought little of it and complied.

Now Janice stood alone on the stage, facing the curious, confused gazes of the guests filling the hall. Even the wedding host hesitated, unsure how to proceed. After all, the groom wasn't there.

For a moment, the scene seemed utterly bizarre—almost ridiculous.

Bradley glanced at Janice, who remained unnervingly calm. He pulled out his phone and tried calling Wade, but the line wouldn't connect. Anxiety gnawed at him. How could Wade possibly salvage this?

Meanwhile, Grace's patience was wearing thin. Something was clearly wrong. She rose to her feet, worry etched across her face as she looked at Janice.

The murmurs among the guests grew louder.

"What's going on? Is this some new wedding trend—having the groom appear at the very last moment?"

"Can't you see? Something's wrong. Wade has probably run off already!"

Gasps rippled through the crowd.

Janice felt the weight of their scornful stares.

"Seriously? How unhappy must Mr. Garner be with his bride that he chose to run away on the wedding day?"
