Chapter 52 

“Where’s breakfast?” Lucien frowned slightly as he made his way downstairs. 

He was dressed in a light gray suit today. It was a common color, but the impeccable tailoring and structured cut perfectly accentuated his tall frame. Every movement he made radiated an air of elegance and charisma. 

As Calista looked at him, memories from last night came rushing back. 

He had been relentless, leaving marks on every inch of her body. The lingering scent almost pulled Calista under again, nearly making 

her lose herself once more. 

Lucien didn’t seem like he was really here for breakfast. After all, since the moment he came downstairs, his eyes had been fixed on 

Wendy. 

“Is there something you need?” 

His tone toward Wendy was cold. It sounded so distant that it seemed as if he were speaking to someone he had just met. 

As he spoke, he stepped between the two women. It wasn’t clear whether it was intentional or not, but he ended up standing directly in front of Calista, shielding her entirely from view. 

“After the mess you caused, how could I not come? What exactly did the Finnegan family do to you? Why did you- ” 

Before Wendy could finish her sentence, Lucien casually loosened his tie and interjected, saying, “Go upstairs and get me a different tie.” He then handed Calista his tie. 

Eager to avoid getting into a direct confrontation with Wendy, Calista immediately seized the opportunity and headed upstairs with the tie. 

“Are you really just going to let her do as she pleases? Lucien, the Fenwick family isn’t some small–time group. We are a family who abides by the rules.” 

Wendy was furious and looked as if she wanted to drag Calista back down herself. 

If someone hadn’t stepped in to clean up the mess, the whole thing would’ve surely blown up by now. There was no way Calista would be enjoying a moment of peace today. 

So, did that mean Lucien had taken care of everything? 

Calista felt a wave of emotion well up in her chest. She tilted her head slightly, worried she might miss a word. 

Wendy followed closely behind Lucien, listing out every one of Calista’s faults. She belittled Calista in every possible way. 

“What on earth are you thinking?” Wendy wasn’t making a fuss out of nothing. She was genuinely worried that Lucien had been brainwashed. If he had truly fallen for Calista, the Fenwick family would be finished. 

Lucien thought back to Calista’s cold demeanor last night. And now, with Wendy’s incessant nagging added to the mix, his frustration boiled over. 

He snapped, “It’s all for the company’s sake.”
