Chapter48
“Money wasn’t the problem, I wanted the truth.”
After hanging up the phone, Timothy’s eyes became incredibly determined.
Even if I lost everything, even if I was against the whole world.
He also wanted to get justice for Gabrielle.
What he didn’t know was, the “dead wife” he’d been desperately looking for.
At that moment, she was sleeping soundly in another man’s arms.
She started her brand new life.
And he himself was stuck in the mud of regret and paranoia, unable to get out.
It was a sunny morning in Mossvale.
When Gabrielle woke up, Zachary was already gone.
There was a glass of warm water and a note on the nightstand.
“I went to take care of something, breakfast was downstairs, love you.”
The handwriting was strong and powerful, just like him.
Gabrielle felt warm inside, picked up the cup, and took a sip.
Although she ran into Cristofer’s test last night, it left her a bit scared.

But after Zachary’s comforting and… some intense “exercise“.
She slept really soundly, really peacefully.
She got up, washed up, changed her clothes, and went downstairs.
In the restaurant, a big breakfast was already ready.
Zachary wasn’t here, and the big villa felt kind of empty.
She sat alone at the long dining table, slowly eating her breakfast.
But I couldn’t help thinking about Cristofer.
This person suddenly showed up in Mossvale and even tested her identity precisely.
This was no coincidence.
Zachary said he would check, but she still felt a bit uneasy.
The power of the Meyers family was really nothing to sneeze at.
What if…
She shook her head, trying hard not to think about those worst–case scenarios.
She was Irene now, and she was Zachary’s wife.
She had to trust Zachary, and also trust herself.
You couldn’t just lose your cool because an old friend suddenly showed up.
After breakfast, Gabrielle decided to go out for a walk to clear her mind.

She didn’t want to stay alone in the villa overthinking.
She sent Zachary a message and told him she wanted to check out the mall nearby.
Zachary replied quickly, “Let the driver take you. Be careful. Stay in touch.”
There was also a kissing emoji after that.
Gabrielle looked at her phone screen, and the corners of her mouth lifted without her realizing it.
This man always managed to give her warmth and strength without even trying.
The driver quickly got the car ready and respectfully opened the door for her.
Gabrielle got in the car and headed to the busiest mall in Mossvale.
She needed to buy some daily necessities, and she also wanted to get herself a few new clothes.
After all, she was Mrs. Monroe now, so she couldn’t keep wearing those old clothes.
I also had to learn to get used to this whole new identity and life.
The mall was packed with people, and all the big luxury brands were everywhere.
Gabrielle used to be Ms. Cobbett too, but her life was always pretty simple.
I didn’t really care much about these luxury goods.

But back then, her husband was Zachary
He was never stingy about spending money on her.
He also hoped she could dress up nicely and enjoy the best material life.
Gabrielle walked into a top brand clothing store.
The sales assistant immediately came up enthusiastically.
“Hello, ma’am, how can I help you?”
The sales assistant’s eyes landed on Gabrielle, and there was a flash of amazement in her eyes.
The woman in front of me was dressed simply, but she had great presence and was really good–looking.
