Ditching Me for His 'Soulmate'? His Loss. Next Stop: My New Life novel Chapter 108

Chapter 1

“Good afternoon, Ms. Davis. I’m calling from the jewelry store to inform you that the ice jade necklace you ordered has been fully paid for and was collected by your husband earlier today.”

Hearing this unexpected news, I felt a flicker of surprise ripple through me.

The necklace’s material alone was something I had patiently awaited for months, and only my VVIP status had granted me access to it. Since it was a custom design, the chain bore my initials delicately engraved—a detail I had never mentioned to Lukas Clark.

My voice took on a sharper edge. “That necklace was intended for tonight’s company annual meeting. There can be no mix-ups.”

The sales assistant quickly tried to soothe my rising tension. “Please don’t worry, Ms. Davis. Your husband told us it was for the annual meeting, so we assumed he wanted to surprise you. You two must really understand each other well.”

His words calmed me somewhat.

Three years into our marriage, though it had been arranged by our families, Lukas had always treated me with genuine warmth and care—never a hint of coldness or indifference. In public and behind closed doors, he was the ideal husband.

A faint smile touched my lips. Surely, he had meant to buy me a necklace to complement my dress, but had accidentally picked up the one I had personally customized.

I smoothed my perfectly styled hair and turned to the makeup artist. “Let’s proceed with the makeup and dress as planned. We’ll add the necklace at the very end.”

Yet, as the hour before the event ticked down, the driver had already stopped by three times to remind me, and still, the necklace had not arrived.

Waiting there, my mood darkened with each passing minute.

The assistant, hesitant to meet my gaze, whispered, “Should I call Lukas Clark?”

“No need,” I replied coldly. “Time waits for no one. Use the backup necklace.”

Before and after marriage, I had been known not only for my prestigious family background but also for my exceptional talents and striking beauty.

Even though tonight I wasn’t at my absolute best, the moment I stepped into the venue, I was met with waves of admiration.

But only I knew how perfect everything could have been if the right necklace had arrived.

The sparkling diamond necklace I wore caught the eye, but it paled in comparison to the jade piece I had longed for.

Suddenly, a stir at the entrance caught my attention.

Turning toward the noise, I froze.

Lukas Clark entered, impeccably dressed in a tailored suit, with his assistant, Farah White, clinging gently to his arm. She was fully made up, looking shy yet captivating.

And around her neck—much to my shock—hung my ice jade necklace.

Under the watchful eyes of everyone present, Lukas and Farah walked in hand in hand, as if they were the hosts of the evening.

This man—once someone I thought I knew and trusted—had become utterly repugnant.

But the spotlight was still on me, and I refused to lose my composure.

Turning away, I forced a bright smile. “Let the annual meeting begin.”

From a young age, no matter where I went, I was always the center of attention—the recipient of flowers and applause.

Tonight was no exception.

On stage, I stood poised and graceful, presenting the year’s accomplishments to our partners and employees.

Below me, Lukas Clark, while conversing with business associates, kept stealing glances in Farah White’s direction.

By rank, Farah had been seated in a dull corner of the room.

I noticed her discomfort, trapped in a voluminous dress, but she held her head high, determined to showcase the necklace around her neck.

Occasionally, their eyes would meet, sharing a quiet, sweet smile.

My gaze hardened, colder than ever.
