Ditching Me for His 'Soulmate'? His Loss. Next Stop: My New Life novel Chapter 114

Chapter 7

Lukas Clark’s eyes locked onto me, disbelief etched across his face. “Urja, are you seriously going to be with him?” he asked, his voice a mixture of shock and incredulity.

I met his gaze with a cold, unwavering stare. “And if I am?” I replied bluntly, refusing to show any sign of hesitation.

He sneered, trying to mask his frustration. “Well, on our wedding day, you’re welcome to join us for a drink.”

I smirked, my voice sharp and dismissive. “Someone, please see them out.”

Before Lukas could retort, a dozen towering international bodyguards appeared almost instantly, surrounding him and his parents with quiet efficiency. They were swiftly and politely escorted from the room, leaving behind only tension and silence.

But I wasn’t content with just that. Later that night, I filed for a restraining order. From that moment onward, any attempt by the Clark family to come near me or my loved ones would lead to immediate legal consequences.

Thanks to Cabot Wilson, a brilliant law student with a sharp mind and unwavering dedication, the divorce process unfolded smoothly and without unnecessary delays.

The very first day after my divorce was finalized, I felt a weight lift from my chest. For the first time in what felt like forever, I could finally breathe freely again.

Everything—every painful, exhausting moment—was finally behind me.

I turned to Cabot with gratitude shining in my eyes. “Thank you, Cabot Wilson. Without you, I don’t know how much longer they would have tormented me.”

He smiled warmly, his expression gentle but serious. “Urja Davis, what I told you before wasn’t a joke.”

I blinked, caught off guard. “What do you mean?”

He took a deep breath and looked directly into my eyes. “I asked if you would marry me. And I meant it.”

My heart skipped a beat. I hadn’t expected this, not now.

From his pocket, Cabot pulled out a small velvet box and opened it to reveal a sparkling diamond ring, catching the light beautifully.

“Urja Davis, will you marry me?” He lowered himself onto one knee, his gaze full of love and determination. “I promise to spend my life protecting you, cherishing you, and loving you.”

As I stared into his eyes, filled with such sincerity and passion, a sudden warmth spread through me. Perhaps this was the love I had been searching for all along.

Afterward, Lukas Clark tried to visit the Davis family several times, but each attempt was thwarted. Security escorted him out before he could even cross the threshold.

A week later, the Clark family appeared in the news once more, but this time it was in the social section.

The night before creditors were set to seize their mansion, Lukas Clark had set the entire house ablaze.

No one survived the inferno; the flames consumed the entire family.

By the time I read the news, I was already on my honeymoon in Bali with Cabot Wilson.

I sighed deeply, setting my phone aside.

Leaning back into Cabot’s strong embrace, I closed my eyes and let the gentle evening breeze wash over me.

All the darkness, all the shadows, were now behind me.

Ahead lay only a bright and beautiful tomorrow.
