Ditching Me for His 'Soulmate'? His Loss. Next Stop: My New Life novel Chapter 15

pter 2

Chapter 2

Grayson jumped up immediately, his gaze darting nervously toward me.

You didn’t hear anything just now, did you?he asked tentatively, a flicker of guilt flashing

in his eyes.

What he didn’t realize was that his hand was still lingering in Lillian’s, unwilling to let go.

I just passed by. Didn’t hear a thing,I replied calmly.

Hearing that, he exhaled in relief, then hastily explained, I was just accompanying my

cousin for her ultrasound.

As he spoke, Lillian hooked her pinky around his and looked at me with a smirk, her eyes

full of disdain and provocation.

I lowered my head slightly and said, I’ll head home. You go on. I won’t interrupt.

With that, I turned and walked away quickly, as if retreating in panic.

Once inside the car, staring out at the bustling traffic, my nose stung, and tears welled up in

my eyes.

Before the accident, my sight was fine.

I had met a patient who had gone blind.

Their family treated them like a burden, and their lover discarded them like trash.

Back then, Grayson had declared with such certainty,

Only cowards treat their loved ones that way. Even if the world ends, I’ll love you until my

last breath.

Chapter 2

Now, standing at a crossroads, I decided to leave first.

Back at home, I collapsed onto the floor, the fluorescent light overhead stinging my eyes.

I had met Grayson in a college club.

He was the campus heartthrob, always topping the academic charts and raking in scholarships.

From the moment I saw him, I couldn’t help but fall hopelessly in love.

Even when he rejected me, he did it gently.

I would wait outside his dorm, day after day, bringing him breakfast I’d made myself, even though he politely turned me down each time.

Until one day, a girl he’d rejected showed up with a knife, aiming to stab him.

Without thinking, I stepped in front of him, taking the blow. That’s how I lost my eyesight.

I abandoned my dream of becoming a surgeon and became a psychologist instead.

I still remember how he trembled as he pressed his hand against my bleeding wound, his

voice breaking.

Vivian, I’ll be your boyfriend. Just don’t scare me like that, okay?

After that, we were together.

He worked tirelessly to help me recover, massaging my eyes every day, buying the best medical equipment.

He promised, I’ll be your eyes.

Then came the sound of the door unlocking.

Chapter 2

Seeing me still awake, he scolded lightly, Why aren’t you asleep yet? It’s not good for your

eyes.

I didn’t respond.

Perhaps he sensed something was off, so he leaned in, trying to kiss my eyes.

But the overpowering scent of perfume on him made me instinctively push him away.

His face showed a brief flash of surprise.

The timing of my recovery was ironic.

One night last month, I woke up with a sharp pain in my eyes.

When I opened them, I was overjoyed to find I could see again.

I turned toward Grayson, eager to share the news, only to find another person in bed with

    1. us.

There they wereGrayson and Lilliannaked and entangled.

As things heated up, Grayson slapped Lillian’s rear playfully, lowering his voice.

Keep it down. Don’t wake her.”

I bit my lip hard, choking back sobs, refusing to make a sound.

That night, the sounds of their intimacy echoed endlessly, and I didn’t sleep a wink.

The next day, I made the decision to join the medical aid mission to Montana.
