Chapter 5
The room fell into a heavy silence the moment those words were spoken.
Then, as if breaking a dam, a loud, mocking laughter erupted from the crowd.
“She claims she’s the Lynn Corporation heiress?” someone scoffed incredulously.
“The billionaire is her father? Has she completely lost her mind, or is she so traumatized that she’s just babbling nonsense?”
“Oh, please! If you’re the Lynn heiress, then I’m the President of the United States!” another voice jeered, dripping with sarcasm.
Sage bent over with laughter, tears streaming down her cheeks as she gasped for breath.
“The Lynn heiress? The real Lynn heiress is the fiancée of my brother, Sterling Whitmore — the young master of Ritz-Carlton!” she sneered, her voice laced with cruel amusement.
“I won’t even bother asking you to call your billionaire daddy. If you think you have any guts, why don’t you get your fiancé to come here and teach us all a lesson?”
“Honestly, if you’re going to lie, at least make it believable. This is just too ridiculous.”
As the crowd’s jeers grew louder, and I sunk lower into humiliation, a familiar figure emerged from the shadows.
“Of course! He’s elite, trained by a top-tier family. His presence alone commands respect,” another replied.
Then he appeared — Sterling Whitmore himself — a strikingly handsome man stepping confidently into the room. He wore a flawless, custom-made black suit that hugged his athletic frame perfectly.
His eyes locked onto me instantly.
The moment he saw me, sitting on the floor, dirtied and held down by the crowd, his expression darkened into pure fury.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?!” he thundered, his voice cutting through the noise like a blade.
