Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 220

It really felt like she was nothing but a bother. Nobody wanted her hanging around.

“Alright,” she said quietly.

She was about to leave, throwing one last glance at the operating room doors, when they opened. The surgeon—the hospital director himself—stepped out, pulling off his mask.

Everyone rushed toward him at once.

Summer managed to squeeze her way to the front. “Doctor, how’s my dad? Please, you have to save him!”

A few people recognized who the director was and immediately started pleading, talking up Cassian’s importance and urging him to do everything he could. They all assumed he’d stepped in personally because he knew who they were.

But the director didn’t look at any of them. Instead, his eyes searched the crowd and finally landed on Wiona, standing a little apart from everyone else.

“Ms. Morgan, could I speak with you for a moment?”

Wiona hesitated, then walked over and gave a polite, respectful nod. “Thank you so much for helping. I know this is a lot to ask. He is someone I respect deeply, so I contacted you as quickly as I could.”

Ever since the incident with Adler, the director had given Wiona his personal contact info. He’d even helped her get special access to the hospital yesterday to watch the Salisbury family’s drama unfold. He’d joked about it, saying, “Don’t worry. Mr. Sullivan called ahead and said to help you with whatever you need. I’m glad to do him a favor. Honestly, I’m grateful for the chance.”

On her way to the hospital, Wiona couldn’t get hold of Conrad, so she’d called the director. He hadn’t hesitated for a second before heading straight to the operating room. The truth was, if Wiona hadn’t reached out, he probably wouldn’t even have known these famous artists were in his hospital. He didn’t care about art, and their reputations meant nothing to him.

The whole crowd just stared in shock as the director spoke gently to Wiona. “You’re too modest, Ms. Morgan. But Mr. Kutz’s condition is very serious. We’ve assessed everything, and honestly, his chances of survival are only about… twenty percent.”

That was when it clicked for everyone. The director was only here because of Wiona. Bronwen especially looked awful. She’d just tried to get rid of Wiona, never realizing that without her, the doctor might have just come out to announce Cassian’s death.
