Ms. Morden shook her head. “No, I didn’t see anything.”
The whole thing felt like a complete mystery.
Wiona glanced up at the doors of the operating room, and to her surprise, her eyes met Wilson’s. He’d been watching them, and when she caught him, he looked a little startled. He quickly nodded at her, looking apologetic, almost as if he was sorry for how his wife and daughter had acted today. Wiona nodded back, then turned to Ms. Morden.
“Professor, why didn’t anyone else bring their families, but Bronwen brought her husband and daughter?”
Ms. Morden explained, “Wilson wasn’t actually with us. He just happened to be at there too. After the accident, while we were waiting for the ambulance, he pushed through the crowd to find us, and that’s when we realized we’d all ended up in the same place by coincidence.”
Seriously? What were the odds?
“And Louisa? She acted like she knew exactly what happened. Otherwise she wouldn’t have been so quick to blame me.”
Ms. Morden shook her head again. “That... I really don’t know.”
“Wiona, are you saying you think there’s more to this?”
“But how could that be? When it happened, Cassian just looked like he fell by accident. There really wasn’t anyone else around him.”
Wiona honestly didn’t know. Something about all of it just felt off.
Summer might not have gone into the arts, but she was a force in her own life. Hearing all this, she found herself starting to doubt whether her father’s fall was really just an accident.
“We have to figure out what really happened,” she said. “Either that, or we wait until Dad wakes up. He’ll know the truth.”
Tina hesitated before speaking up. “Should we try to get the security footage? If it wasn’t an accident, I’m worried someone could mess with the evidence...”
Wiona nodded. “Then I guess I’ll have to ask your Mr. Bishop for help.”
Tina’s face turned pink, and she elbowed Wiona. “What do you mean, my Mr. Bishop? He’s just a guy I got set up with! We’re not even close to being anything.”
Molly, who’d been quietly hovering nearby, suddenly looked anxious. “Tina, take it easy, okay? Wiona… she needs to be taken care of too.”
Tina shot her a look. “You’re acting weird today. You’ve been following Wiona around like you’re her bodyguard. Is something wrong with her? Is she sick?”
