Jean had only said she needed to use the restroom, but Florian waited outside for twenty minutes and she never came out. He ended up asking someone to check inside, but the restroom was empty. It was like she had just disappeared. Florian was frantic, and the first thing he did was call the police. The Salisbury family found out soon after, and Daniel sent Isaac to the hospital to handle things. Jean wasn’t just any staff—she had been Grandma Grace’s right hand for years—and everyone knew this was serious. Wiona didn’t go back to the manor. She stayed outside the security office, waiting for news.
Florian stormed out, fists clenched, his whole body tense with anger. “The security cameras caught someone stuffing my mom into a suitcase and taking her away. Who does something like that? What do they want? My mom’s not young. She can’t handle this kind of thing. What if… what if she ends up like Grandma Grace? What if it’s already too late, even if they find her?”
Wiona shook her head, trying to steady him. “Let’s wait and see what the police say.”
A few minutes later, Isaac came out with one of the officers. He might have been the youngest in the family, but he spoke with a calm confidence. “Thank you for your help. The Salisbury family will do whatever it takes to cooperate,” he promised.
The officer nodded. “At this point, we think Sam might be responsible. Is there something he wants from your family? Anything he’s desperate to get his hands on?”
Isaac hesitated. “I really don’t know the details. Jean was my grandmother’s closest confidante. She knew everything. When my grandmother was kidnapped, the kidnappers didn’t get what they wanted. Maybe that’s why they’re going after Jean now.”
The officer jotted down some notes. “Please strengthen your security. We’ll be increasing patrols in the area. If we find a lead, we’ll need your family to work with us.”
Once the police left, Isaac turned to Wiona, nodding respectfully. “Mrs. Salisbury.”
She looked him straight in the eye. “Your brother and I are divorced now. Call me Ms. Morgan.”
Isaac blinked, genuinely surprised. “I… didn’t know. I’m sorry, Ms. Morgan.”
