Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 269

Wiona felt a rush of excitement bubbling up inside her. For a second, it was like she’d stepped back in time, to when she didn’t have to handle everything alone, when someone else was always clearing the way for her. But it wasn’t quite the same.

Back then, Kyle would never let her get even a whiff of trouble. If anyone tried to mess with her, he would step in before she even realized something was wrong. Even the people she called friends were handpicked by him, who were more like loyal followers than real friends. When she got older, she realized she could never really connect with them, so she started drifting away. After everyone found out who she really was, Kyle was the first to turn his back on her, and those so-called friends disappeared too.

The Morgans always wanted her to be this perfect, obedient princess, sheltered and carefree. They pampered her, but she wasn’t allowed to have opinions, and art was completely off the table. Maybe that’s why she ended up rebelling, sneaking around behind their backs in high school to learn to paint from Bronwen. She’d been painting for years, and the Morgans still had no idea she was the artist known as W.

Now Conrad was doing the complete opposite. He wanted her to see the worst the world had to offer, to face it head-on and fight her own battles. For the first time, it felt like someone actually cared about what she wanted, about how she felt. Her heart swelled with gratitude. She looked up at him, her eyes bright. “So what are we waiting for? Let’s go.”

Wiona walked in and stood in front of Sam and Alona. Sam’s whole face changed the second he spotted the tall man behind her. Conrad filled the doorway in his black coat, hands in his pockets, so tall his head almost brushed the doorframe. He didn’t have to say a word, and still, the room felt tense. He just stood there, calm and unreadable, but somehow he gave off the vibe of someone you absolutely didn’t want to cross. Sam’s hope vanished in an instant.

“It’s you,” Sam choked out, his voice full of shock and anger. “You did this to me! You’re the reason I’m trapped, the reason I have nowhere left to go. Sullivan, I’m not letting you get away with this.”

Sam’s fists clenched, and he lunged at Conrad. But before he could get close, Lewis stepped in, swinging a baton and landing a brutal hit right in Sam’s stomach. Sam doubled over in pain and dropped to his knees, barely able to get out a scream.

Wiona startled at the sudden violence but found herself more surprised by Lewis than anything else. Apparently, being Conrad’s driver was a lot more intense than it looked. Conrad leaned down, his voice low. “Did that scare you?”
