“What did you do to the Salisbury estate? What did you do to my home?” Alona’s voice shook as she glared at Sam. “You told me you just tried to rob the safe and ran off when the police showed up. That’s my home. What did you actually do?”
Wiona took a step back, watching the hatred in Alona’s eyes burn hotter with every second. She spoke quietly, just loud enough for Alona to hear. “Yeah. That was your home. You were the lady of the Salisbury family. But now, you’re running away to Southeast Asia with him… and there, you’ll be nobody. No status, no endless money, no children by your side. Everything you had is gone. Your peaceful life, your happiness… all destroyed. And it started back at that bar, the night someone slipped something into your drink. If it hadn’t been for that, you would’ve had a lovely daughter with your husband. You wouldn’t be standing here, disgraced and left with nothing.”
By the time she finished, Wiona was at the door. She watched as Alona broke down, piece by piece. Alona clutched her head and screamed, her cries raw and desperate. Then she looked up at Sam, eyes red and wild, her voice trembling. “That night… was it you? Did you set me up?”
Sam froze, fear flashing across his face. “Don’t listen to her. Alona, I can explain everything. Bianca might be gone, but I’ve been trying to find her. I just didn’t want you to worry. She’s an adult, she won’t just disappear, right? Besides, you can’t go back to the Salisbury estate, so whatever happened there doesn’t matter anymore. As for what happened back then, it’s over. There’s no point dredging it all up now… ah!”
Alona lunged at him, teeth bared. She bit down hard on his face. Sam howled in pain and tried to shove her off, but not before she ripped a chunk of flesh from his cheek. She spat it out and glared at him, her face twisted with rage. “Sam, you ruined everything! You destroyed my life. It’s you or me now.”
Sam stumbled back, real fear in his eyes. “Stop it, or I will fight back. Alona, didn’t you go to that bar looking for a one-night stand anyway? All I did was give you a little something to make things more exciting. What did I do wrong? You weren’t exactly innocent. How is this my fault? And no one asked you to keep Bianca. You couldn’t let go of that kid, so how is that on me? You wanted your mother-in-law’s money and I helped you. If I hadn’t helped, I wouldn’t be in this mess. In fact, if you hadn’t pushed me to kidnap your daughter-in-law, Conrad wouldn’t hate me and I wouldn’t be facing any of this. Alona, get a grip. We’re both victims here, we…”
