Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 279

Wiona glanced at Conrad and didn’t hesitate. “Now,” she said. “I’ll give you the address.”

She rattled off the location of her cafe to Jean. “Florian’s been there. He’ll know how to get you.”

Conrad gestured for Lewis to drive straight to the cafe. When they pulled up, Wiona climbed out of the car. Conrad checked his watch and said, “I’ll pick you up at six. Don’t wander off again.”

His tone carried a weight she couldn’t quite place. He really didn’t trust her on her own. Wiona probably had no idea how many people in Stonehill were trying to track her down. It wasn’t just the paparazzi. The Salisbury and Morgan families were watching her like a hawk, and now the Schmidt family was after her too. They were growing desperate, and Conrad could sense they were close to doing something reckless. He was already planning to bring the Schmidt family down for good. Otherwise, they’d only get more dangerous.

Wiona could feel a hint of that danger, but it was still so early in the day. She knew she’d never last until six. “You should go take care of your business,” she told him. “I can have Tim and Jim pick me up later. Don’t worry, I’ll make it back to Hawthorne Hall.”

She was getting paid for this job, but she was always out running around, barely spending any time with Alice. She figured the sooner she got back, the better.

Conrad looked at her like she was being completely dense. Did she really think all he cared about was her getting back to Hawthorne Hall? He felt a tightness in his chest and signaled for Lewis to drive away.

Wiona felt a little confused by his sudden mood shift, but she didn’t dwell on it. She gave the divorce certificate in her purse a quick check and then headed upstairs, feeling lighter with every step.

“Boss!” Mason called out, dropping whatever he was doing and hurrying over as soon as he saw her.

No one was happier to see Wiona than Molly, who practically launched herself into Wiona’s arms. “Wiona! I was so worried! Are you okay? Were you hurt? That awful—oh, that awful Alona—how dare she team up with those monsters and kidnap you. When I saw the news, I thought I was going to pass out. Are you really alright? How are the babies?”

Molly had already spoken to Wiona on the phone, but seeing her in person clearly brought a huge wave of relief. Wiona grinned and spun in a little circle, arms open wide.

“Seriously, I’m fine. It’s them who are in trouble now.” Her tone softened. “Have you heard from Bianca at all? She disappeared after that night. I keep wondering what happened to her.”

Wiona kind of felt uneasy. She’d left Bianca on the side of the road that night, and maybe something terrible had happened to her.
