Florian stared, completely taken aback. “Does she really think everyone cares about money that much? We’re talking about Ms. Morgan here!”
Jean shot her son a look, muttering to herself in frustration. Useless!
The way he acted, anyone would’ve thought he was Wiona’s number one fan. He was a grown man, well into his thirties, yet he admired a woman ten years younger as if she could do no wrong. Just a moment ago he’d accused both of them of being the Salisbury family’s lackeys, but truthfully, he was even more of a pushover in front of Wiona.
Jean wanted to smack him. Why did he always have to make things harder for her? She pressed her hand to her face, feeling defeated. “If Grandma Grace knew things would end up like this, she never would have helped you get that divorce.”
“I heard Jace is back in the hospital, all because of this mess.”
“And your father-in-law… he’s dragging himself to the office, sick as he is.”
“The Salisbury family is in shambles, and got your divorce papers with no trouble at all.”
“And what was supposed to be a secret is now out in the open for everyone to see.”
“Grandma Grace… what was she thinking? She didn’t just lose, she lost everything.”
Jean felt so sorry for the old lady. She wondered if Grandma Grace could rest in peace.
Wiona just shrugged. “So, she gave me the divorce to try and outsmart me. I guess I should thank her. If not for that, getting what I want would have been a lot harder.”
