Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 303

Wiona’s eyes flew open, wide and round. Her cheeks flushed bright red in an instant. Her heart pounded so hard she could barely catch her breath. She felt completely thrown off, her mind a mess of panic and confusion. With nothing else to do, she grabbed her glass of milk and gulped it down, hoping to hide in the moment.

“Um… maybe I should just eat breakfast first… I’m kind of hungry… If I wait, everything will get cold…” Her words tumbled out, desperate for a distraction.

Before she could finish, Conrad caught her wrist and held her gently against the chair. He was careful, mindful of her belly, but his face hovered just inches from hers, close enough that she could feel his breath and the tension between them.

“Let’s not change the subject. It’s your turn to answer, Ms. Morgan. You brought this up, so why are you running away now?”

Wiona bit hard on her lower lip, feeling more and more flustered. She had only wanted to talk about his feelings, to get some clarity, but he’d gone straight to talking about marriage. She couldn’t even look at him.

“Mr. Sullivan, please, calm down,” she said softly. “I just wanted to make sense of what’s going on between us. I asked those questions because I needed to know. But I just got divorced a few days ago. I’m really not ready to even think about getting married again.”

Conrad leaned even closer, his lips near her ear. She could feel the warmth of his breath, see the blush spreading all the way to her ears. He swallowed, voice low. “Then why keep teasing me? Do you have any idea what you do to me? I can’t stop thinking about you.”

Wiona’s eyes widened in disbelief. “That’s not true. I never—when did I ever tease you? It was you...” She caught herself mid-sentence, forcing the rest back down.

It was him, always leaving her flustered, always blurring the line between teasing and sincerity.

Conrad watched her face, a hint of a smile in his eyes. “It was me, what? Why not finish your thought?”

Wiona bit her lip again, harder this time, searching for some shred of composure. “It’s nothing. You misunderstood, Mr. Sullivan.”

Conrad’s hand came up, big and warm, cupping her cheek. His thumb brushed the spot where she’d bitten her lip. “Don’t bite yourself again. If you do, I might not be so gentle next time.”
