As soon as Donna stepped out, Annette couldn’t hold back any longer. She leaned in, her eyes sharp with curiosity. “Alright, what’s really going on with you two?”

She didn’t wait for an answer before firing off more questions. “I heard Wiona’s from the Salisbury family. Conrad, I don’t think you’d mess around with a married woman. That’s not who you are.” She paused, searching their faces. “Is there something you’re not telling me? Or have you changed that much while we were apart? Have you become some flirt I don’t even recognize?”

Annette was never one to beat around the bush. She went straight to the point, blurting out everything on her mind.

Conrad jumped in, cutting her off. “Mom, it’s not what you think.”

“Ms. Morgan is carrying my child. There’s nothing else between us at the moment.”

Wiona should’ve felt relieved, but somehow his words made her even more uncomfortable. Something about it just sounded off.

Annette just laughed. “Are you kidding me, Conrad? I need you to give it to me straight. What exactly happened between you and Ms. Morgan?”
