Divorced and Pregnant My New Life with a Billionaire Drives My Ex Crazy novel Chapter 399

Annette’s voice was low and a little rough. “I’ve got some trouble at the Simpson estate. You’re the only one who can help me.” She paused. “And please, don’t tell Conrad. If he finds out, we’ll just end up fighting again.”

Wiona blinked, puzzled. Was this about that Redstone Peak thing again? The last time Annette and Conrad argued, it was a nightmare. Just thinking about it gave Wiona a headache. Maybe those two were destined to clash, like it was written in the stars.

As soon as she hung up, Wiona sprang into action. She quickly changed into something suitable and grabbed her bag. If she couldn’t tell Conrad, she could at least let Phil know what was going on. She figured that wouldn’t break Annette’s trust.

When she asked Phil for the car, she mentioned, “Oh, and if I’m not home tonight and Mr. Sullivan asks, just tell him I went to the Simpson estate. But not to see Madison.” She figured Conrad was smart enough to read between the lines.

Phil just nodded. “Of course, Ma’am.”

With Nikolai and Drake by her side, Wiona headed out.

Meanwhile, back at home, Alice was devastated when she learned Wiona had gone out again. She sat right down on the floor and started crying. Libby walked by, noticed the scene, and tucked a soft bunny plush into Alice’s arms.

“You really love Wiona, don’t you?” Libby said gently.

Alice looked up, still sniffling, her eyes wide and confused. “Libby? Where did you go? When did you come back?”

Libby’s gaze softened, and there was a trace of sadness in her eyes. She reached out and patted Alice’s head. “I’ve been back for a few days, but I was sick, so I couldn’t come see you. But you didn’t answer my question.”

Alice’s mood flipped in an instant. She smiled through her tears and held out her arms. “Libby, I want a hug.”

Without missing a beat, Libby knelt and hugged her tight, just like she used to when they were kids. She’d always treated Alice like a little sister, always looking out for her. Truth be told, she’d spent even more time with her than Conrad had. Even when Alice wanted nothing to do with anyone, she always made an exception for Libby.

After their hug, Alice finally answered him properly. “I like her because she really loves me. She looks me in the eyes when she talks, and she treats me like I’m her baby. And I get to follow her around like her little shadow.”
