Dumping The Ice King His Mini-Tyrant novel Chapter 538

Harrison’s hands clenched into fists, his dark eyes fixed on Selene’s face. "Is that what you really want?" he asked, his voice tight. "Selene, you're doing this on purpose, aren't you? This is a pathetic attempt at reverse psychology!"

Selene simply met his gaze, a slight curve to her lips. Harrison found himself staring, transfixed. At some point, his memory of her face had blurred. After seven years of marriage, the details had faded. Now, looking at her, it felt like seeing her for the first time. She wore no makeup, and the hallway lights were dim, yet her beauty was striking—like a bright, full moon emerging from behind dark clouds, impossible to look away from. Had she always looked like this? When he searched his memory, the only clear image he could conjure was of the eighteen-year-old girl he had first met.

"If I have to choose between Annalise Johnston and Felicity, of course I'm going to pick the lesser of two evils," Selene said with a wry smile.

Felicity winced, her expression souring. But she wasn't stupid. If Selene was actually helping her, it meant that this Annalise Johnston was someone Selene absolutely did not want in the Vaughn family.

"Selene! Dames has always adored me," Felicity declared earnestly. "I'll treat him as my own!" She looked as if she wanted to tear her heart out and present it to Selene as proof.

Selene's gaze slid over Felicity's face. *The unattainable is always alluring, the favored are always reckless.* Her presence between Harrison and Felicity had only intensified their bond. Since Felicity was so shamelessly determined to run headfirst into this wall, and she was already here, Selene figured she might as well give her a little push.

"So, Mr. Vaughn, you don't want to accept her?" Selene's voice held a new, teasing note. "Could it be that after our divorce, you've suddenly realized my good qualities?"

*He thinks I'm saying this because I'm upset about the pregnancy,* Selene realized. *He thinks I'm playing games, that I called him here because I'm angry but have no right to be.*

It had to be that. A triumphant smile touched Harrison's lips, and he felt a surge of adrenaline.

As Harrison moved closer, Felicity instinctively took a step back, hiding behind Selene again.
