Emma struggled frantically, but Sebastian held her down, his grip like iron.
His eyes, burning with a destructive light, bore into hers as he repeated his question over and over. "I gave so much for you. How are you going to repay me? How could you just use me and throw me away?"
"Would you be where you are today without me? Tell me."
"Who pulled you out of your despair? Who helped you get back on stage? Who walked away from a billion-dollar inheritance to be your leading man in this godforsaken place?"
"Now that you've found a younger lead, you don't need me anymore, is that it?"
"Baby, how could you be so heartless?"
Emma shook her head wildly.
But it was no use. His eyes were filled with a sharp, manic energy she didn't recognize.
"Baby, tell me you won't break up with me."
"Say it. Say you love me."
"Come on! Baby, just say it, and I'll let you go."
"Baby, the only way you can ever repay me is by giving me the rest of your life. Do you understand?"
Emma couldn't say anything. His hand was pressed so tightly over her mouth that tears started to well in her eyes from the pressure and lack of air.
"Are you going to be this stubborn? You can't! Baby, you're mine, you know that? Do you know how much I love you? I would do anything for you, do you understand that?"
He suddenly lowered his head, trying to kiss her.
His grip was painfully tight. The cloying fragrance of the lilies mixed with the feral rage radiating from him, and a wave of nausea rose in her stomach.
The second before his lips touched hers, she summoned every last bit of her strength, twisted her head to the side, and freed one of her hands.
