Thinking of Mason’s attitude towards Sienna compared to his attitude towards her was like looking at a stark
contrast.
Amanda felt both utterly hopeless and bitterly frustrated.
She was practically going crazy with jealousy.
“Oh. Amanda, you forgot what I told you last time. You need to work through someone else.” Beatriz lowered
her voice
She added, “You’ve always been kind, and the Cooper family raised you as a top–tier socialite. When it comes to dirty tricks, you’re no match for that country bumpkin. If you really want to win Mr. Brown over, trying to impress him directly just isn’t going to cut it
“Do you even know how that bumpkin managed to hook Mr. Brown into escorting her home?”
Beatriz curled her lip in disgust. “I asked around. That country girl, desperate to marry into the Brown family. is trying every way to please the Browns! Sophie has a heart condition and she actually dragged Sophie out to watch a motorcycle race, even luring Mr. Brown over there‘
Amanda froze mid–sob, her eyes widening in disbelief. ‘She she took Sophie out for a race?”
“Exactly Beatriz placed her hands on Amanda’s shoulders, making her look up. “See how bold and cunning she is? This one gamble earned her Mr. Brown’s escort home.”
Amanda clenched her fists, her eyes bright with scheming. “If getting through to Sophie is impossible, I should shift my focus to Sherwood instead.”
In the entire Brown family, the only one Mason would ever listen to was Sherwood.
If I can get Sherwood on my side, Amanda told herself, then Mason will have no choice but to marry me
Once I get into the Browns, no one–especially Mason–will ever slip through my fingers, she swore to berself
Seeing Amanda finally figured it out, Beatriz gave her shoulder a firm pat, her voice sinking lower. “Amanda, Sherwood has always had a soft spot for you, and trust me, he’s desperate for a great–grandson
“If you can use his influence and get pregnant with Mason’s child. Sherwood will back you all the way. Even if Mason tries to push back, with a baby, Sherwood will make sure you become Mason’s wife.”
The more Beatriz spoke, the brighter the light burned in Amanda’s eyes.
Her nod was fierce. “Yes… yes. As long as Sherwood only acknowledges me as his future granddaughter–in–law,

Sienna doesn’t stand a chance.”
After a moment of thought, she snatched up her phone from the bed and dialed a number.

It didn’t take long before the call connected, and a woman’s voice came through, warm and affectionate, “Amanda, sweetheart, is something wrong? What made you call me this late?”
Amanda’s eyes were rimmed with red as she made her voice soft and trembly, mixing in a touch of tears. “Mia, hope I’m not bothering you?”
“No, I just got back from a party and I’m still wide awake,” Mia replied, pausing for a moment. “Amanda, have you been crying?”
Amanda blinked, tears spilling down her cheeks, her sniffles growing more obvious. “No,” she said, her voice trembling.
“Don’t lie to me, Amanda. I can hear it in your voice,” Mia said coolly. “Is that country girl causing you trouble again? Is she picking on you?”
Amanda sniffled, still insisting otherwise.
Mia’s irritation spiked. “Honestly, that bitch can’t go a day without stirring up drama. What are your parents thinking, anyway? They already have you and still feel the need to bring that bumpkin home. Aren’t they ashamed?
“She’s been making trouble since the minute she showed up. Anyone could see she’s nothing but a headache. You set up a meeting with her, and let me deal with her.” Mia fired back.
Hearing Mia drop “bitch” over and over about Sienna filled Amanda up with secret satisfaction, but she made sure her voice stayed soft and mournful.
She said, “Mia, I know you care about me and can’t bear to see me wronged. It’s alright, really. Please don’t stand up for me. After all, she… she will marry into the Brown family in the future. It wouldn’t be good if you two don’t get along later because of me.”
Those words made Mia snort in disbelief, choking out her response in utter annoyance.
“Join the Brown family? That bumpkin from the countryside? Who does she think she is?” Mia sneered.
“But the one with the childhood engagement to Mason is her.” When Amanda said this, she sounded on the verge of breaking down in tears. “Now that she’s back with the Coopers, in the future… she definitely will…”
“Even if our families want to honor that childhood engagement, you’re the only one who deserves it.” Mia sneered. “That wretch thinks she can strut right into the Brown family? She’s not even close to being good enough.”
“But… Mason really seems to care about Sienna now.” Amanda’s voice collapsed completely as she burst into sobs. “Tonight, she took Sophie out racing and got herself hurt, so Mason drove her home. He’s never done that for me. And earlier, right in front of everyone, he snapped at me just because of her… I…”
Mia practically exploded. “Are you kidding me? That bitch took Sophie out racing? Isn’t Sophie supposed to

“Amanda, stop crying. Grandpa’s a man of his word, and both he and I know that the only future Lady of the Brown family is you. Sienna? She’s just trash from the sticks, not even worth mentioning.
“Mason probably took her back just to confront her about taking Sophie racing. Trust me, he’d never waste his feelings on someone like her.”
Mia was Amanda’s staunchest ally in the Brown family, who also happened to be Mason’s cousin.
Mia had always been convinced that Amanda would absolutely become Mason’s wife and the future lady of the Brown family. Therefore, she had long since built a good relationship with Amanda to secure her own future.
She was always dropping compliments about Amanda in front of Sherwood and constantly kept Amanda supplied with the latest gossip and updates about Mason’s every move.
“Mia, Mason is really different with her.” Amanda sobbed, but her tone was full of worry. “I heard… before she came back, she always lived in the countryside, didn’t even finish high school, got involved with a lot of shady people, had a bunch of men around her.
“Just now, when I saw Sienna come back, she was injured, and Mason didn’t look too good either. I’m just worried that Mason might be deceived by her, might get dragged down by her.”
“Are you kidding me?” Mia exploded, her rage barely contained. “She didn’t even finish high school? That kind of low–life really thinks she can just stroll into the Brown family? Amanda, relax. Grandpa only cares about pedigree and character. You’re gentle and clever. No one but you is fit for Mason.”
Mia slapped the table. “Listen, Amanda, tomorrow morning I’m heading straight to the Brown Villa to get Grandpa involved. We can’t let Mason get led astray. A woman like her? Over my dead body.”
