“Got it. Anne,” Sienna replied, not saying much else.

Tomorrow was Sophie’s coming–of–age ceremony.

‘But still… Sienna thought.

Why didn’t he even speak to me before heading off?‘ she wondered.

‘I mean, come on…‘ Sienna felt a bit put out.

‘We’ve been staying under the same roof for several days now.‘

At the very least, he should’ve said something before he left.’

Sienna hadn’t even noticed it herself, but when she learned that the sly Mason hadn’t bothered to say goodbye, she felt a weird twinge in her chest–a sort of unspoken disappointment she couldn’t quite put her finger on.

She turned to Anne. “Thanks for looking after me these past few days, you and Ben. I’m heading home now.”

Anne looked at the canvas backpack on Sienna’s shoulder. Mason had bought her an entire room’s worth of clothes, yet she didn’t take a single piece with her.

Anne couldn’t help but feel a little unsettled…

‘Honestly, it’s like Mr. Brown ended up just like those clothes–left behind and forgotten by Miss Cooper, Anne mused.

Anne jumped in, “Miss Cooper, you’re not gonna wait for Mr. Brown to come back?”

Sienna gave the empty hall one last look, then shook her head. “Nah, my family’s expecting me at home.”

Just as Sienna was about to step out the door, Anne called after her, a hint of urgency in her voice. “Wait up,

Miss Cooper–Mr. Brown left you a gift. Take it with you!”

As Anne spoke, she hurried over, holding out an elegantly wrapped, oversized rectangular box.

‘A gift?‘ Sienna blinked, caught off guard for a moment.

‘What’s the point of him giving me a present?‘ she wondered, a bit bewildered.

Sienna stared at the box for a few seconds, then hesitated before reaching out and taking it.

It felt heavy in her hand.

Sienna nodded. “Tell him thanks. I’m leaving.”

Anne walked her to the door. “Miss Cooper, safe travels! Come back whenever you can. I’ll cook for you!”

When Sienna got back to the Cooper Manor, backpack in one hand and the gift box in the other, her entire family was already out front, waiting eagerly at the gates for her.

Word had spread she was returning, so the whole Cooper clan had come out to welcome her home, anticipation written all over their faces.

“Sienna, my precious girl, you’re finally home…” Pansy’s eyes turned red the moment she saw Sienna. She rushed over, pulling her daughter into a tight embrace. “Let Mom have a look–did you lose weight out

there?”

“You’re home, that’s what matters.” Gerard’s face was aglow with joy as he watched his wife and daughter hugging. His eyes were gentle, overflowing with love as he took in the reunion.

Theo walked over and took both Sienna’s backpack and the gift box from her hands.

He hefted the box, looked down at it and asked, “What’s this?”

Sienna was mid–conversation with Pansy when Theo spoke up. She glanced toward the box and replied, “It’s from Mason. I haven’t even opened it yet.”

“That Mason…” Theo muttered, his gaze locked on the gift box in his hand. His eyes, visible behind gold- rimmed glasses, grew faintly cold.

I told him to look after my little sister, not flirt with her, Theo grumbled to himself, a wave of annoyance flashing across his face.

“And now he’s even trying to win her over with gifts?‘ Theo scoffed inwardly, jaw set tight.

If Sienna wants something, I can easily buy it for her myself. Does he have to show off in front of our family?” Theo fumed to himself, feeling both protective and irritated.

“Alright, why are you all crowding around the door for? Sienna’s probably starving. Let’s go eat–your mom knew you were coming home and went all out in the kitchen to make your favorite dishes,” Rolf said, his wrinkled face softening in relief and joy as he finally saw his granddaughter home safe.

He wheeled himself over to Sienna and asked, “Everything sorted out out there?”

Just that one question.

Sienna instantly understood–her grandpa could tell there was more going on beneath the surface.

‘But then again, of course I shouldn’t be surprised… Sienna mused.

It takes a truly iron–fisted patriarch to build Cooper Group into Orlathis City’s top powerhouse, keeping the Cooper family at the pinnacle for so many years.

‘Of course Grandpa would pick up on it immediately, Sienna thought.

With an affectionate flourish, Amanda made to grab Sienna’s hand, her whole face lit up with real joy at her sister coming back.

But Sienna just shot her a cool, indifferent glance, not bothering to respond.

She unobtrusively dodged Amanda’s hand and picked up her fork, just kept eating.

Pansy, smiling warmly, reached over and took Amanda’s awkwardly hanging hand. “Amanda, you showed up at the perfect time! Go wash your hands and join us–your sister’s finally home, and I cooked up all her favorites. Let’s enjoy dinner together first; you can try on your dress later, there’s no rush.”

Amanda’s attempt to be friendly was totally ignored by Sienna, leaving her smile frozen awkwardly on her face.

After Pansy said that, Amanda couldn’t help but glance over at the dinner table, taking in all those delicate, mouth–watering dishes.

She looked even more put out.

Every dish had clearly been picked just for Sienna–all her favorites, no exceptions.

None of them were chosen with Amanda in mind.

There seriously wasn’t a single dish on the table that she actually liked.

‘So, they made all this food for Sienna and now expect me to just come eat it too? Are they testing if I’ll just go along with whatever they say, like I’m supposed to be playing second fiddle to Sienna from now on?‘ Amanda sulked, feeling a bitter sting.

Amanda just couldn’t help feeling totally left out and upset.

Amanda glanced over at Sienna, who was leisurely enjoying her meal–digging into shrimp her brother Theo had peeled for her, sipping the soup Dad had ladled straight into her bowl, and forking up pieces of tender fish Grandpa had carefully deboned, each bite full of love and pampering from the family.

Amanda wasn’t about to let Sienna steal the show. Her eyes flicked to the mannequin stand that Beatriz was wheeling over, then she grabbed her mother’s hand with practiced affection, plastered on a syrupy smile, and cranked her voice up to full spoiled–princess as she gave Pansy’s arm an attention–seeking shake.

She piped up, “Mom, you specially asked that famous Antonio from Milan to custom–make this gown just for me! You spent so much time and effort–seriously, it’s all your love wrapped up in one dress. Since my little sister’s here too, why don’t I put it on for everyone to see?

“Otherwise, with your cooking being this incredible, if I eat too much and get a food baby, the dress might not fit perfectly anymore…” Amanda crooned, sounding extra sweet and just a bit dramatic. She made a big deal of stressing the words “specially,” “custom–made for me,” and “a ton of effort“.

Beneath her sugary words was a clear, low–key flex–a bit of showing off that didn’t go unnoticed.
