Amanda’s eyes widened in disbelief as she stared at Theo, completely floored by what he just said.
Wait, does Theo really mean… Amanda wondered, confusion swirling in her mind.
Is he actually asking Beatriz to apologize to Sienna?‘ Amanda couldn’t wrap her head around it.
Beatriz had practically raised her since she was a little girl.
In the Cooper family, Beatriz practically stood in for her.
Making Beatriz apologize to Sienna was basically the same as making her bow down to Sienna herself.
It was like serving her dignity on a silver platter, just waiting for Sienna to humiliate her.
‘Seriously? I only touched the gift box Mason gave Sienna–do they really have to blow it up like this?‘ Amanda thought, feeling totally indignant.
“What’s wrong?” Theo’s eyes narrowed behind his glasses, a cold, steely light glinting as he stared at Beatriz. “Can’t even figure out who you should be apologizing to? If your eyes are failing you that badly, Beatriz, maybe it’s time you packed up and left.”
Beatriz’s face went ghostly pale.
Amanda’s expression was even worse–her cheeks drained of color, mortified beyond words.
Every word Theo threw at her landed like a real slap, the humiliation sharp and impossible to ignore.
Amanda could tell Theo was using Beatriz as a warning–letting her know, loud and clear, that in this family, she’d have to swallow her pride and bow to Sienna.
Everyone always said they’d treat me and Sienna the same, that everything would be fair.
But they all took Sienna’s side!
Just perfect. Total frauds, every one of them,‘ Amanda thought, furious.
She looked heartbreakingly vulnerable, her eyes swimming with unshed tears–but underneath it all, Amanda was so furious her fingers shook.
She clutched her skirt and stood up, trying to defend Beatriz. “Theo, please don’t be angry at Beatriz. It’s just… Mom has always taken care of me, always made sure everything was handled perfectly for me.”
She bit her lip, her voice thick with emotion as she choked out, “So…. that’s why Beatriz thought it was a surprise from Mom meant for me. She honestly had no other intention…”
With that, she turned to Beatriz and said, “Beatriz, hurry up and apologize to Sienna!”
Beatriz was the only person left in the Cooper family who genuinely cared about her.

No way in hell could she let them kick Beatriz out.

‘This has to be on purpose–Sienna’s doing everything she can to drive out the only ally I have in this house. Once Beatriz is gone, what’s stopping her from making my life hell?‘ Amanda fumed, the bitterness surging up inside her.
Beatriz gave Amanda a lingering, heavy look, her eyes filled with a quiet, steadfast sacrifice–as if telling her, ‘I’d bear any humiliation just for you.‘
Then she bent low in the direction of Sienna, her apology ringing out loud and clear for everyone to hear.
With every deep bow and every heartfelt apology, Amanda felt the humiliation searing hotter on her cheeks, each word like another slap to her dignity. ‘This is unbearable, she thought, her pride shredding with every move Beatriz made.
Now everyone’s openly favoring Sienna, forcing Beatriz to swallow her pride and submit to her.
‘Guess this is exactly what everyone wanted, huh?‘ Amanda thought sarcastically.
‘Bet Sienna’s absolutely loving this,’ she seethed.
Amanda thought she’d already hit rock bottom, but watching Beatriz bend so low, looking absolutely crushed and apologizing like she was worth nothing, made her humiliation cut even deeper.
Theo didn’t respond at all, his silence cold and unwavering.
He simply arched an eyebrow, his gaze steady on Sienna–making it clear the final decision was hers alone.
Amanda was so furious she felt like she might actually vomit blood–her eyes were bloodshot, practically blazing with rage.
‘How much more humiliation do they want Sienna to heap on me?‘ Amanda thought, her heart pounding with fury and helplessness.
Amanda dug her nails into her palms, took a shaky breath, and gazed at Sienna through tear–stained, red eyes, her expression pleading. “Sienna, Beatriz honestly didn’t mean it. It’s… it’s my fault for getting my hopes up over nothing. Please, just forgive Beatriz–and forgive me too… I… I’m sorry, really.”
As soon as she finished, she scrambled to her feet, almost tripping over herself in her rush to bow and apologize to Sienna.
But she moved so fast she bumped straight into the chair, her face instantly going sheet–white as she sucked in a sharp breath–man, she looked downright miserable. ‘Seriously, could I look any more pathetic?‘ Amanda thought, shame burning in her chest.
Amanda clutched her aching arm, putting on her most pathetic look–hoping for even a shred of sympathy. But not a single person in her family so much as glanced her way, let alone comforted her. ‘So much for anyone caring,‘ she thought bitterly, the disappointment hitting her even harder.
Right then, Sienna suddenly broke out into a soft laugh.

She set down her fork with effortless grace, not a trace of that so–called small–town awkwardness in her movements. Everything about her was sophisticated and poised–like she’d been meant to rule in a place exactly like this.
Leaning back in her chair, she lifted her slim, ivory–white hand and started clapping, slow and measured, her attitude almost chilly as she watched the scene unfold.
“Talk about wishful thinking.” Sienna let out a mocking laugh. “Guess you’ve finally figured out you’ve spent twenty years living a life that was never yours.”
This whole life Amanda’s been clinging to? Nothing but a pathetic delusion.
‘Seriously, what right does she have to play the victim?‘ Sienna scoffed inwardly, her gaze icy with disdain.
Sienna knew her mom was a sucker for feelings, always quick to forgive and soften up.
Amanda was the girl Pansy had pampered for twenty years—basically her own, no question.
Amanda always played the perfect, sweet daughter around Pansy, never letting even a hint of jealousy slip.
Pansy was probably still totally convinced her adopted daughter was innocent, kind, and gracious.
That line Amanda just dropped–about how Pansy always did absolutely everything for her, never missing a single detail?
And then her follow–up, all “I shouldn’t have been so delusional“?
‘She’s really putting on a pitiful act, that’s for sure. Isn’t she just pulling this to make Mom feel guilty for her?‘ Sienna thought.
Sienna was going to cut off Amanda’s little act right here and now–corner her so completely, she’d have no way left to keep acting like the wounded victim.
Right on cue.
The moment Sienna finished speaking, everything shifted.
Pansy couldn’t help but feel a jab of pain for Sienna. She grabbed Sienna’s hand, shot Amanda a cold look, and said, “Amanda, you screwed up–that’s the truth. If Beatriz broke the rules, that’s on you for never teaching her any better!”
“Why should Sienna just let everything slide just because Amanda apologized? What about those twenty years she lost–all because of Amanda?‘ Pansy raged inside.
‘I’ve already done more than enough for Amanda, Pansy thought bitterly.
‘The one I’ve truly wronged is Sienna–the daughter who had to spend twenty years away from her family because of us,‘ Pansy realized, guilt welling up in her chest.
Just thinking about all the suffering Sienna had to endure in the Fairbank family for twenty years made Pansy’s heart ache.

Pansy’s heart twisted with pain.
No matter how hard she tried to make it up to Sienna now, it would never be enough.

Amanda never imagined that with just a few words, Sienna could make Pansy let go of any guilt she used to feel for her. Not only that, Pansy didn’t give a damn about Amanda’s pride–even when Amanda got up, humiliated herself and apologized, Pansy kept pushing, even turning around to blame Beatriz.
Is Mom seriously not even going to bother faking it anymore?‘ Amanda thought, feeling utterly lost.
Amanda’s eyes flew wide, staring at Pansy in disbelief–she couldn’t believe what she was seeing.
Pansy kept her face stony, not even glancing at Amanda. She turned straight to Beatriz and said, “Beatriz, I won’t kick you out–not after everything you’ve done for Amanda over the years. But don’t think you’re getting off easy. I’m cutting your pay for two years. Let this be a warning to everyone–break the rules, and there are real consequences.”
Beatriz’s worried look faded a bit at Pansy’s words, her anxious heart settling down.
Just cutting my pay? That’s totally fine,‘ she thought, a wave of relief washing over her–as long as she could keep her job, nothing else mattered.
Working as a senior housekeeper for the Cooper family–the wealthiest family around–with Amanda, the pampered heiress, always backing her up, Beatriz had it made.
Her annual salary easily hit two or three million.
Thanks to Amanda’s patronage, Beatriz had managed to squirrel away a tidy pile of cash over the years.
And even if her pay got cut for two years, it barely mattered; with Amanda as her personal cash cow, Beatriz could count on extra money whenever she wanted.
This kind of punishment was basically worthless–it didn’t even matter.
Beatriz had just started to relax, thinking she’d gotten off easy.
But then Pansy added, “From now on, you’re not allowed anywhere near the main house. You’ll be stuck working in the back garden, pulling weeds and handling chores.”
Beatriz went completely rigid, staring in disbelief as the shock hit her full–force.
Amanda’s face turned sheet–white, tears pooling in her eyes as she stared at Pansy in utter disbelief, her heart pounding in her chest. ‘Is Mom really going to do this?‘ she thought, frozen where she stood.
‘How is this any different from just kicking Beatriz to the curb?‘ Amanda fumed, her chest aching as bitterness surged inside her.
