Chapter 27
Alf sneered, the stench of alcohol heavy on him. He raised his hand, reaching for Sienna’s collar, ready to
teach her a lesson.
But before he could touch her, Sienna shifted to the side in her white T-shirt and black pants. In one quick move, she grabbed his wrist and twisted it hard.
A sharp crack cut through the room, followed by Alf’s scream.
Sienna lifted her leg and, with a move that seemed almost impossible, pressed her long, slender leg down on Alf’s head.
Alf screamed again as his body hit the ground with a thud.
He tried to roll and writhe in pain, but her foot stayed firmly on his head, pinning him down.
The room went silent. Everyone stood frozen, staring at the shocking scene, unable to process what had just happened.
No one could believe it-the quiet, gentle Sienna who used to follow Ernest around had just attacked one of his friends right in front of him.
And she hadn’t just attacked-she had humiliated him. It was a slap straight across Ernest’s face.
“Sienna!” Ernest’s eyes went wide. He glared at her, his voice cold. “You dare hit my people, huh?”
Sienna slowly lifted her head, her cool gaze landing on him.
A sneer tugged at her lips. She didn’t say a word, but the mockery in her silence was louder than anything she could’ve spoken.
The next moment, she flicked her foot. Alf, who had been pinned to the floor, was suddenly sent flying.
His body flew across the room and crashed into Ernest before anyone could react.
Caught off guard, Ernest stumbled back several steps as Alf slammed into him. The two of them fell onto the sofa. Ernest’s expensive shirt was wrinkled and stained with spilled alcohol and Alf’s blood.
“I dare hit you, too. Want to try?” Sienna stood there cool and calm, her eyes full of defiance.
Her bold words made Lauren’s face burn with anger. He slammed his hand on the table. “Sienna, you’re out of your mind!”
He lunged toward her, but before he could get close, a deep, lazy voice cut through the noise. “So loud.”
The voice wasn’t loud, but it froze the room. Everyone turned toward the doorway. A long, elegant hand rested casually on the doorframe.
A tall, lean man stood there, his posture relaxed.
His shirt was unbuttoned at the top, showing a sharp collarbone. A cigarette hung from his lips, the smoke and dim light blurring his cool, striking face. Only his eyes cut clear through the haze-deep and sharp.
He looked as if he had just wandered in, completely at ease.
His gaze swept lazily across the room, and though his face showed no expression, a chill ran down everyone’s spine.
The manager of the Golden Throne Club followed nervously behind him, dripping sweat. “Mr. Brown-”
Everyone’s heart skipped a beat. Even Lauren, who had been furious a second ago, stood frozen, his face turning pale.
The room went dead silent. Everyone knew this man sat at the very top of Orlathis City’s social ladder.
He was above the Fairbank and Grant families. Even Alvin, wild and fearless as he was, had to show him
respect.
“Mr. Brown, what brings you here?” Ernest shoved Alf aside, not caring about his own messy state.
After all, if word spread that Mason had shown up at his party, the Grant family’s status would skyrocket.
Excitement flashed in Ernest’s eyes. He even started to agree with Lauren’s earlier words-Jessica really was a good luck charm.
Since her return, the Cooper family wanted to partner with the Fairbanks, and now Mason himself had appeared.
Dropping his usual arrogant act, Ernest quickly picked up a glass and walked toward Mason. “Mr. Brown, I’m so sorry. The Grant and Fairbank families were just handling a private matter. We didn’t mean to bother you. Which room are you in? I’ll send over some wine to apologize.”
He respectfully held out the glass with both hands. For someone who always acted like a big shot, he suddenly looked very humble.
But Mason didn’t spare him a glance. His eyes were locked on Sienna, standing calm and collected in the center of the room.
A faint smile curved his lips as he walked straight toward her, completely ignoring Ernest.
The smile froze on Ernest’s face. Embarrassment and fear washed over him. He gripped the glass tightly, his brow furrowing as he turned and saw Mason walking into the room.
Passing Lauren, who was still standing stock-still, Mason brushed his shoulder with the hand holding the cigarette. Ash scattered onto Lauren’s expensive clothes.
“Move.” Mason’s voice stayed low and lazy, like he had just woken up, but it carried a weight that pressed down on everyone. “Trash, you’re in the way.”
Lauren’s face burned red from the humiliation, but he didn’t dare say a word. He just stepped aside.
The moment Mason appeared, Jessica’s eyes lit up.
Since returning to the Fairbank family, she had studied every major figure in high society. Mason’s name had been mentioned countless times by her parents, her brothers, and even Ernest.
She knew he was far out of reach for the Fairbank and Grant families. He was completely out of her league.
But seeing him in person-tall, impossibly handsome, cool to the bone-made her heart pound.
If she could win over a man like that, her life would change forever. She would be the most sought-after woman in Orlathis City, maybe even the whole country of Aurathen.
Just thinking about it made Jessica’s heart pound. She dug her nails into her palms, ready to step up and speak to Mason-until she saw him stop right in front of Sienna.
Her eyes went wide. She couldn’t accept it. Mason couldn’t be here for Sienna.
In her mind, Sienna was nothing but a backstreet nobody, a worthless girl from the slums. Someone like her didn’t even deserve a glance from Mason.
Jessica was certain that a man as perfect and untouchable as Mason should only ever look at her.
She drew a deep breath, forced her face into the most delicate, pitiful expression she could manage, and clicked toward him on her heels, swaying as she walked.
Her voice turned soft and sweet. “Mr. Brown, please don’t misunderstand. This is all Sienna’s fault. She got angry after failing to seduce Ernest and started hitting people. That’s what disturbed you. Please don’t be upset. I’ll apologize for her—”
