Fake Heiress Real Trouble (Sienna) novel Chapter 76

Chapter 76

Sophie had no idea how shocking her words really were.

She even patted Sienna’s shoulder. “Besides, that was all part of my brother’s engagement gift. Sienna, don’t be polite with him!”

Sienna frowned. ‘Engagement gift?’

It seemed Sophie did not realize that using that word for her own brother sounded more than a little inappropriate.

She was making it sound like Mason was marrying into the Cooper family as a son-in-law.

Just what kind of nonsense had Mason been telling his little sister?

Sienna turned her head, giving Mason a slanted look.

However, Mason didn’t seem to notice the unfriendly look in her eyes. He smiled charmingly and seductively.

He looked like she was fully agreeing with his sister’s words.

Sienna was speechless.

Ever since the childhood engagement had been brought into the open, and she’d admitted that Mason’s face was somewhat attractive, he had only gotten more shameless by the day.

Sophie, being a clever little thing, knew when to stop. Too much teasing could ruin the effect.

She beamed and lowered her head, staring at the pretty little gift box in her hands, her eyes sparkling. “Can I open it now?”

Sienna glanced at Mason again. “Best not to open it now.”

Sophie’s round eyes spun like marbles, then she quickly tucked the box into her arms. “Then I won’t open it! I’ll look at it secretly later!”

Sienna chatted with her for a while longer until the nurse brought Quinn’s message. Before being discharged, another detailed examination should be done to confirm there were no problems, and then she could sign the discharge papers.

The nurse was about to push Sophie to do the examination, and Mason, as a family member, had to accompany her.

“Sienna, you have to wait for me!” Sophie sat in the wheelchair, reaching out to Sienna, performing a classic scene of life and death parting from a drama. “I’ll be quick. You can’t secretly run away!”

Her playful dramatics softened Sienna’s expression. “Okay. I’ll wait for you.”

Sophie reluctantly went for the examination.

Sienna sat in the waiting area outside the ward, pulled out her phone, and began dealing with a few urgent

matters.

Just then, hurried footsteps came quickly from the corridor.

“Sienna!” A trembling voice called her name.

The man stopped in front of her, clutching a thick stack of medical files. His bloodshot eyes locked on her, and his expression was twisted with pain and disbelief.

His face was pale, with dark circles under his eyes, and his hair unkempt. He looked nothing like the once- proud “youngest department director in Imperial University Hospital,” nothing like the bright, brilliant genius doctor everyone once admired.

When he met Sienna’s eyes, his eyes were clearly filled with pain, confusion, and disbelief.

Sienna frowned and said impatiently, “Why is it you again?”

It was Windsor, the second son of the Fairbank family.

Sienna’s cold eyes stung Windsor’s heart, and the documents in his hand rustled. “Sienna…these, these data…”

His Adam’s apple bobbed, and his voice trembled slightly. “Yesterday… yesterday Miss Brown had a heart attack, and the hospital issued a critical notice. But after you came, Miss Brown’s vitals completely stabilized. And today she’s ready to be discharged! It was you, wasn’t it? You’re the one who saved her!”

He heard those professors, who were always arrogant, with admiration in their eyes when they mentioned Sienna.

Each of them praised Sienna’s superb acupuncture technique… enough to subvert their understanding!

Every word had sounded like a slap in the face to Windsor, mocking his past disbelief.

Even before, Miracle Surgeon Herman Preston had personally admitted Sienna’s extraordinary talent, but it was not as shocking as witnessing Sienna’s terrifying medical skills with his own eyes, time after time!

Sienna’s gaze was cold, and when she looked at Windsor’s almost crazy and distorted expression, a hint of sarcasm flashed in her eyes.

Immediately, she lowered her eyes, and her gaze returned to the phone screen. She completely ignored Windsor’s meaning.

“Sienna!” Having grown accustomed to Sienna’s enthusiasm, her indifference was now piercing Windsor’s sense of reason, breaking it bit by bit.

His eyes were bloodshot as he let out a hoarse, almost hysterical accusation. “Say something! You’re this skilled. Why didn’t you say anything back then? Even if I didn’t believe you the first time, you could’ve told me a second time! Even if I didn’t believe you the second time, you could’ve told me a third time!”

Windsor had always been accustomed to pride. And Sienna was a country girl whom he had never taken seriously.

But now, his proud medical skills were crushed by Sienna. It was unacceptable to him.

“Dr. Fairbank, are you in a position to question me?” Sienna lifted her eyelids with a cold smile. There was no fluctuation in her eyes when she looked at Windsor, and even a bit of sarcasm.

Windsor’s heart trembled at her cold gaze, and that soaring, excited emotion subsided inexplicably at this

moment.

When he opened his mouth again, his voice contained a grievance and accusation that he himself had not noticed. “It’s…it’s because you didn’t say anything! If you had said it earlier and shown me your true skills, you wouldn’t have lived so…so…”

He wanted to say that Sienna wouldn’t have had such a miserable life with the Fairbank family.

But when the word “miserable” reached his lips, he choked.

His eyes grew even more complicated as he stared at Sienna.

Looking back, Sienna’s four years in the Fairbank family had been nothing short of torment.

And only now did he realize how cold, how cruel he had been to her.

Back before Jessica appeared, back when no one knew Sienna wasn’t truly of Fairbank family blood, she should have been his sister.

Yet, Windsor didn’t give Sienna a chance to get close to him.

He could still remember when she had first been brought from the countryside. She was so careful, so eager to please, so desperate for his attention.

He didn’t know why he had chosen to reject her so harshly. Why had he lashed out at her, using humiliating words to force her away, then watched from the sidelines as she was mentally manipulated and crushed in that household?

Then, he coldly watched Sienna being mentally abused and tormented in this family.

Now, looking into her cold, indifferent eyes, and remembering the way she used to smile so sweetly and hopefully at him, a huge sense of emptiness made Windsor’s heart feel extremely dull and painful.

A tide of guilt almost overwhelmed him, making it difficult for him to breathe.
