When Tyler knocked on Vivienne's door, this was the scene that greeted him.
Vivienne stood there in the doorway, wearing nothing but a silk camisole nightdress.
His brow creased ever so slightly.
Vivienne seemed aware that this wasn't exactly appropriate, but her stubborn pride kept her silent; she simply bowed her head.
After a moment, Tyler shrugged off his jacket and draped it over her bare shoulders.
"Come inside. It's cold out here," he said gently.
Vivienne finally nodded and followed him further into the room.
As they walked, she couldn't help but give Tyler a once-over.
He'd changed his clothes—fresh shirt and pants, everything different from before.
It was obvious he'd put on something new before coming over. But why? He was with Emilia in the same house—what could possibly require a change of clothes?
The more Vivienne thought about it, the angrier she became.
She'd finally managed to put Emilia in her place, but now there was a child in the mix, and those meddling old relatives had to interfere! Everything she'd worked for could unravel in an instant. If Emilia ended up pregnant with Tyler's child… what then?
But she forced herself to remain composed, masking her turmoil behind a curtain of tears as she sat beside Tyler. Silent, she dabbed at her eyes, refusing to say a word.
Watching her, Tyler felt at a loss.
After a pause, he said, "Don't cry."
But the words only made things worse. Vivienne's tears fell harder, streaming down her cheeks in thick, glistening tracks.
She reached for Tyler's shirt collar, fingers trembling.
"What are you doing?" Tyler frowned and gently moved her hand aside.
"Did you sleep with her?" Vivienne sobbed. "Tyler, you promised you'd divorce her—didn't you?"
"You gave me your word. So why would you… why would you do this with her?"
As long as she could keep Tyler firmly in her grasp, everything else would fall into place.
With that thought, she leaned closer to him.
"Tyler." She drew near, soft breath tickling his ear.
She'd chosen this nightdress on purpose, even dabbed on a seductive perfume—tonight, she was determined to make him hers, once and for all.
She nestled against his shoulder, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have questioned you. It's just—I'm so afraid of losing you."
Tyler glanced at her, subtly trying to put some space between them.
Vivienne noticed, her eyes red as she asked, "Tyler, why are you avoiding me?"
He lowered his gaze, dodging the question. "How are you feeling now? Are you okay?"
Vivienne hesitated, misunderstanding his intent. Her cheeks flushed a delicate pink as she replied in a sweet, coquettish tone, "I'll be fine… as long as you stay with me."
"Tyler, will you spend the night here?" Her meaning was unmistakable—they both knew exactly what she was offering.
