These two predators were practically salivating for a chance to bring him down, and they certainly weren’t about to let this opportunity slip away.
Applying pressure from the investors to force Serena, Donovan Entertainment’s star, to withdraw from the competition—this was their best shot yet.
Sure, Donovan Entertainment might still get a share of the profits from *Voice of the Divine* later on, but Serena’s market value would be utterly destroyed.
The show itself was important, no doubt, but it was nothing compared to the real prize: Serena’s future endorsements, brand deals, and all the commercial opportunities that would follow. That was where the real money lay.
If they could ruin Serena, Christian would be left with nothing but empty hands.
So, the two older brothers seized the moment, undermining Christian at every turn.
One minute it was a snide remark, the next they were cozying up to other players, whispering about partnership deals, always working angles behind the scenes.
Alexander couldn’t have cared less.
Survival of the fittest, he figured. If you get outplayed, you only have yourself to blame.
It took ages for everyone to finally assemble. Only then did Christian pull himself together, straighten his suit, and step into the boardroom to face the wolves.
The room was a battlefield of rival interests. Plenty of people sided with the eldest brother and Wyatt—a lingering problem from last time, when Emilia had managed to win Alexander over, but Christian still needed time to persuade the rest.
“Mr. Christian, we tried calling you all night. You ignored every call. Today, you owe us an explanation,” someone demanded the moment he walked in.
“That’s right! This project involves all of us. If the higher-ups pull the plug, we’re all wiped out. That’s a risk you can’t shoulder alone, Mr. Christian!”
“I messaged you before too—there’s an easy fix. Just cut Serena loose and the problem solves itself. That’s how these things are always handled, right?”
“Exactly. Get rid of the troublemaker and the show goes on. We’ve all blacklisted A-list talent before—it’s not personal, Mr. Christian.”
All eyes turned to Christian.
Everyone knew that just two days ago, the Glenn Group had come on board as the main sponsor for the show. And now, this controversy had erupted. Naturally, the Glenns would demand an explanation.
With representatives from every major investor present, if George Glenn spoke out against Christian, it would be as good as a death sentence for Donovan Entertainment.
The tension in the room was palpable; most people watched Christian with a barely concealed glee, waiting for the axe to fall.
The two other Donovan family members at the table exchanged knowing, almost sardonic smiles.
After all, the Glenns only became sponsors at the last minute, which meant George Glenn and Christian didn’t have any private understanding—at least, not that anyone knew of.
“The Glenn family…”
