Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 234

It was only after hearing those words that he finally felt at peace.

Tyler left.

After that, he wandered through countless places.

But in the end, he found himself parked in front of the preschool.

He didn’t get out of the car—just sat quietly, watching the children playing in the yard.

Bella was there, sitting with her friends, quietly drawing.

Watching her from a distance, Tyler felt a rare calm settle in his heart.

Elsewhere.

Emilia, her face half-hidden behind a mask, was deep in conversation with the designer, discussing the outfit she’d wear for the Voice of the Divine finals.

Her phone rang.

“Excuse me,” Emilia said, pulling it from her purse.

Tyler’s name flashed on the screen.

Her heart clenched.

Today marked the thirtieth day of the mandatory divorce waiting period; if they were to finalize the paperwork, it would have to be tomorrow. Why was he calling now?

Was he having second thoughts?

If he was… then what was she supposed to do?

A thousand possibilities raced through Emilia’s mind as the ringtone nearly faded away. At the last second, she pressed accept.

She stepped out into the corridor.

“What is it?” she asked.

“Let’s have dinner together tonight,” Tyler’s voice came through, steady and unhurried. “Bring Bella. I’ve already made a reservation.”

Emilia frowned. She wanted to refuse, but then remembered—it was almost over. There was no reason to complicate things at the very end.

“Why?” she asked.

He paused. “Emily,” he said quietly, “Tomorrow we’ll get the divorce certificate. After that, we might not have another chance to sit down together like this for a long time.”

Emilia’s eyes drifted to the abstract painting on the corridor wall.

He looked up again. Bella was still painting with her friends, her face aglow with laughter.

He couldn’t help but smile gently.

Meanwhile, Emilia was still frowning at her phone.

After a moment, she called Joyce and filled her in.

“Who knows what’s going through his head,” Joyce said, lounging at home on her day off, munching on fruit. “As long as he shows up to sign the divorce papers tomorrow, that’s all that matters.”

Emilia had to admit, she was right.

“The only thing that would be trouble,” Joyce continued, “is if he tries to talk you out of it at dinner tonight.”

“Change his mind?” Emilia snorted, as if that were the most ridiculous thing in the world. Vivienne was still waiting in the wings, after all.

“I doubt he will,” Joyce said with a laugh, putting down her fruit and grabbing the TV remote. “But if he does, just stand your ground.”

“If he refuses to sign, you still have your backup plan—file for divorce through the courts.”

“If it comes to that, you know what to do.”

Emilia listened and felt a little more at ease.
