Up ahead, inside Emilia’s car, she was gently straightening Bella’s slightly crooked clothes.
“He’s following us,” Felix said from the passenger seat. “Should I lose him?”
Emilia glanced in the rearview mirror, then shook her head. “Let him follow.”
There was nothing to hide, and besides, Bella’s health couldn’t handle any more strain.
Emilia had signed all the necessary agreements with the care center, and Bella’s adoption process was already underway—that was the only reason she could take Bella out today.
All Tyler could do was visit. Even then, Bella had the right to refuse him.
So, the car drove in silence all the way back to the care home.
Emilia escorted Bella inside.
Outside, Felix waited for Tyler, blocking his path.
Tyler’s car pulled up, and he strode straight toward Felix.
Felix didn’t flinch, just watched him coolly.
“What?” Felix asked, his tone edged. “Looking for a fight?”
Tyler didn’t throw a punch. His eyes, sharp as blades, locked onto Felix’s.
Tension crackled between them, as though the air itself might shatter if anyone made a sudden move.
Not until Emilia emerged did the moment break.
She looked between the two men, then said simply, “Felix, let’s go.”
She moved toward the car, but Tyler grabbed her wrist.
In the next instant, Felix caught hold of her other wrist.
Emilia frowned slightly. “What are you two doing?”
Neither answered. They just stared at her.
Did they want her to choose?
Without hesitation, Emilia yanked her wrist from Tyler’s grip and turned to Felix. “Felix.”
Felix’s eyes darkened for a split second, but he masked it quickly and let her go.
“Let’s get going,” Emilia said, her voice steady. “Thank you for everything, Felix.”
But she didn’t want that.
Tomorrow, they’d finally sign the divorce papers—she didn’t want any more complications.
Besides, she didn’t have feelings for Felix. There was no need for rumors or misunderstandings.
As she spoke, Tyler’s car pulled up outside.
Emilia shook her head again.
Tyler hurried in just in time to see Felix give Emilia a reassuring pat on the shoulder, then watch her step into the elevator.
Tyler strode over, but saw only half of Emilia’s face as the elevator doors slid shut.
He lunged to press the button, but Felix stopped him with a firm grip.
The glowing red numbers above the elevator ticked upward—one floor at a time—while the two men stared each other down, neither willing to back off.
The elevator stopped on the eleventh floor—Emilia’s floor. Only then did Felix release Tyler’s arm.
“I’m heading the same way,” Felix said flatly. “Give me a ride?”
