Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 252

Emilia glanced over at him, but he kept his eyes fixed on the rain streaking down the window, refusing to meet her gaze.

“Love,” she said softly.

But that was all in the past.

Now, she’d made up her mind to guard her own heart.

There was no need to tell him that.

And she certainly didn’t want tomorrow to spiral out of control.

He finally turned to watch as Emilia opened the car door and stepped out into the pouring rain.

Many of the old Dennis family’s people still worked at the Erickson Group—and getting to the truth behind Dennis’s death would require power.

She needed him. She needed the Erickson family.

He believed that, in five months, when he could finally tell her everything and explain himself, she’d understand.

She loved him. She couldn’t let him go.

But Emilia was already walking away through the rain with Felix and Joyce McCarthy.

The rain was heavy; even with borrowed umbrellas, they were quickly getting soaked.

“I’ll bring the car around,” Felix said.

Joyce handed him the keys.

Felix hurried out, umbrella in hand, while Emilia and Joyce took shelter under the eaves.

As Emilia shook the rain from her trousers, Joyce studied her red-rimmed eyes. After a moment’s hesitation, she asked, “What did he say to you?”

“Just some things from before,” Emilia answered calmly. “He also told me he knew about the accident, and tried to explain he didn’t mean to push me.”

Joyce’s worry flared. “You’re not going to forgive him, are you?”

“First he dredges up the past, then claims it was all a mistake—Emily, that man is impossible! After everything he put you through…”

Emilia finished shaking off the rain and straightened up, smiling at Joyce. She patted her friend’s shoulder. “Not a chance.”

“Tomorrow at nine, we’ll file for divorce,” Emilia said.

Joyce searched Emilia’s face, making sure she wasn’t lying. Only then did she finally breathe a sigh of relief.

He also said the others were “taken care of.”

“Damn it!” Vivienne cursed.

“Taken care of? Yeah, right.”

She muttered under her breath as she watched the news. The victim of the hit-and-run was still in critical condition, fighting for life.

And now the police had started a manhunt.

Even if he managed to slip away, it would be nearly impossible to move freely around here again.

Especially now, with the search intensifying.

“At least this rain might wash away some of the evidence,” Vivienne murmured.

With that small hope, she lay back down on her bed.

She wondered what kind of mess Tyler was in now.

“Tomorrow… they should be able to finalize the divorce, right?” she said to herself, staring at the ceiling.
