Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 253

She had everything planned out. As soon as the divorce papers were signed, she would marry Tyler.

This was her final wish—her dying wish, really—and she was sure Tyler would agree.

Then, she would finally become Mrs. Erickson.

The thought made Vivienne’s face light up with a dreamy smile.

……

Rain poured down, washing over the city.

Everything felt damp, as if the world itself were soaked through.

Felix and Joyce drove Emilia back to her apartment. She’d taken a taxi out earlier, so her car was still parked here.

“I can stay with you tonight?” Joyce asked, her voice full of concern.

Emilia shook her head gently.

“I’ll be fine. You had a rough night too—go home, take a hot bath, and get some sleep. Don’t catch a cold,” she urged.

Joyce nodded; she realized she was on edge herself, and didn’t want her nightmares to disturb Emilia.

“We’ll head out, then. If you need anything, call me, okay?” Joyce said, still worried.

Emilia smiled and nodded, assuring them once more that she was alright.

She watched the siblings drive off into the rain, then stood alone in the empty parking lot for a while.

Finally, she turned, exhaustion weighing on her, and made her way slowly to the elevator.

……

Elsewhere, Secretary Jensen asked carefully, “Mr. Erickson, where to now?”

Tyler hesitated, unsure how to answer.

Secretary Jensen looked just as troubled.

Just then—

Bzzz. Bzzz.

Tyler’s phone vibrated in his pocket.

He pulled it out and glanced at the screen—Vivienne was calling.

He didn’t really want to answer, but after a moment’s hesitation, he tapped accept.

“Tyler?” Vivienne’s voice was timid on the other end.

“Yeah.” His reply was curt.

“Where are you right now?” Vivienne pressed.

“In the car,” Tyler answered, his tone flat.

The day had felt unbearably long.

The Maybach continued gliding through the rain.

“To Hillside Manor,” Tyler instructed Secretary Jensen.

“Yes, Mr. Erickson.” Jensen changed direction and drove toward the estate.

They arrived soon after.

Tyler stepped out into the rain, crossed the small courtyard, unlocked the front door, and turned on every light in the house.

Still, the place felt empty.

He didn’t go to the master bedroom. Instead, he lay down on the living room sofa.

Staring up at the pale ceiling, he felt as if reality was slipping away.

As though this world wasn’t real at all.

Bzzz.

His phone vibrated again.

Tyler glanced at the screen—the clock had just ticked past midnight.

Their mandatory divorce waiting period was officially over.
