Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 255

Tyler glanced at his fingers, slipped off his wedding ring, and tucked it into his pocket.

Emilia noticed, but only for a moment. She didn’t say a word.

The day she moved out of their home, she’d left his ring—along with the bottle of perfume he’d given her—sitting in a drawer. She’d already let go.

“When we get back together, you can wear it again,” Tyler murmured.

Emilia didn’t answer, just kept her head down, double-checking the paperwork.

“I’ll get you a better one next time,” he added in a low voice, as if hoping to cheer her up.

But she remained silent, keeping her eyes on the documents, not wanting him to see through her.

Her silence made Tyler frown.

She looked exhausted—dark circles under her eyes, her face drawn. She must not have slept well last night.

“Take care of yourself for a while, okay?” he said quietly.

Emilia finally looked up at him, catching the shadow flickering in his eyes.

“Yeah,” she replied, lowering her gaze again. “I will.”

After that, neither of them spoke.

They waited in silence.

It wasn’t long before their number was called.

Together, they walked to the counter and handed over the required forms.

While the clerk reviewed their paperwork, they sat down, side by side but a world apart.

“Are you sure about this?” the clerk asked at last.

“We are,” they both replied, nodding.

The clerk stamped their documents with two crisp thuds.

“All set. Here you go.”

Two divorce certificates slid across the counter.

The clerk called the next number.

“So that’s it. We’re divorced,” Tyler said, standing at the top of the stairs.

Emilia nodded.

“In a few days, there’s a music competition finale. I think you’d like it—it’s called Voice of the Divine. There’s a contestant named Serena. She’s talented, really impressive.”

He went on, “Her style reminds me of yours, but she’s more polished. I admire her a lot. I think you could learn something from her. I saved you a seat at the show.”

He hesitated, then asked, “Will you come?”

Emilia looked up. “I’ll be there.”

[Just not in the audience,] she thought.

Tyler nodded, satisfied.

Again, they fell into silence.

Emilia studied him, feeling nothing but peace.

“Well then,” she said lightly, “Happy divorce, Tyler.”
