Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 256

Tyler didn’t answer. He just looked at her, his expression complicated.

“I’ll come find you in five months,” he finally said.

Emilia gave no indication of agreement or refusal.

“You should head back,” she replied, and took the first step down the stairs.

Tyler stood there, watching as Emilia walked away. Sunlight fell on her, tracing gold along the edges of her silhouette as she moved. For reasons he couldn’t quite name, a wave of sadness washed over him.

Bzzz—

At that moment, his phone vibrated.

He pulled it out and glanced at the screen: Vivienne.

In his other hand, he still held the divorce papers he and Emilia had just signed.

Tyler looked up again, but Emilia had already rounded the corner and disappeared from sight.

He shook his head, trying to dismiss the odd feelings swirling in his mind.

Emilia loves me, he told himself. She can’t live without me.

Besides, Vivienne only has five months left.

Not much time at all.

With that thought, he answered Vivienne’s call.

“Tyler,” her voice came through the speaker, “did everything go as planned?”

Tyler glanced down at the divorce papers in his hand.

“Yeah,” he replied.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the parking lot, Emilia slid into the driver’s seat of her car. She hesitated a moment, then pulled out the divorce certificate, snapped a photo, and sent it to their group chat.

Emilia: Divorce officially finalized.

The replies came instantly, a wave of congratulations—

Joyce: That’s amazing! Round of applause! Congrats on finally ditching that jerk. Happy divorce day!

Christian: You did it, Emilia! Finally free of Tyler the dimwit!

Seven: So proud of you, Emilia! Here’s to a brand-new chapter!

Felix: Congratulations on reclaiming your single life, Emilia!

“Something I can help you with, Mr. Glenn?” Emilia asked.

Theodore looked at her—so gentle and harmless on the surface, and yet, he couldn’t help but find it amusing.

“Care for a chat?” he said with a soft chuckle.

Emilia had no idea what Theodore was really after.

In Alden City, the three major families were the Ericksons, the Donovans, and the Glenns.

The Ericksons, led by Tyler, had recently reinvented themselves, pushing past the other two.

The Donovans and the Glenns were neck and neck for second place.

But the two families had very different ways of grooming their heirs.

The Donovans believed in survival of the fittest—Christian and his brothers fought tooth and nail, with the strongest coming out on top.

The Glenns, on the other hand, had their three heirs working together to grow the Glenn Group into a powerhouse.

But Emilia knew things were never as simple as they looked.

George, for example—despite his golden retriever-like goofiness, he’d been born into privilege. There was no way he was as clueless as he seemed.
