The private lounge next door was already alive again—the music thumping, laughter spilling out, and dancing in full swing. Tyler, however, still stood rigidly in the hallway, his eyes bloodshot as he glared at the tightly shut door.
A cheerful janitor, pocketing her tip, had just finished sweeping up the shattered glass. Now, humming to herself, she mopped the floor right in front of him.
“Excuse me, could you lift your feet?” she asked politely.
“My suite is just next door,” Owen said, eyeing Tyler’s tense expression. “They’re not coming out anytime soon. Let’s wait in my room instead.”
Only then did Tyler tear his gaze from the door and follow Owen into the neighboring suite.
Once they’d gone, the janitor finished mopping, still humming, and patted her pocket, delighted with her tip before heading off.
Inside Emilia’s suite, Joyce was still ranting, her voice raised above the music.
She whipped out her phone, ready to spill the latest gossip—photos and rumors of Tyler and Vivienne’s candlelit dinner.
“I just don’t get it,” Joyce huffed, scrolling through the pictures. “Tyler is unbelievable. What, is he hoping Vivienne dies so he can run back to Emily? He wants it both ways. Disgusting.”
The others made faces, rolling their eyes and making gagging gestures in solidarity with Emilia.
Emilia felt a warm surge of gratitude. Even if love had wounded her before, she still had these friends—and that was enough.
“Forget about them. Tonight’s for celebrating! Don’t let anyone ruin our mood,” Emilia declared, raising her glass.
The handsome guys in the group jumped in to liven things up, and soon the whole suite was buzzing with laughter and chatter.
But while some rooms were filled with joy, others simmered with bitterness.
Back in Tyler’s suite, he was knocking back drink after drink—not sipping, but practically pouring them down his throat.
