Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 310

It was a long while before Emilia finally arrived at the hospital.

She hadn’t intended to come at all, but then Mrs. Erickson called her.

“Emily, we know about your divorce from Tyler. Your grandfather… he’s fallen ill.”

Mrs. Erickson’s voice was gentle but insistent. “I understand you may not want to see Tyler, but perhaps you could come visit us—just the two of us old folks. If nothing else, we could talk about the matters concerning the divorce.”

So, Emilia came.

She brought Joyce with her, carrying little Bella in her arms.

Bella soon ran off with Joyce to play in her office, leaving Emilia to walk alone down the long, sterile hallway toward Mr. Erickson’s room.

Tyler was standing right outside the door. His parents had refused to let him in.

When he saw Emilia, he looked like he wanted to say something, but she walked straight past him without a word, closing the door firmly behind her.

Tyler was left standing in the hallway, staring at the closed door, a deep sadness settling over him.

Inside the hospital room, Mr. Erickson was already awake.

“Emily, you’re here,” he said weakly.

Emilia stood by the bed, her emotions tangled and raw.

After a moment, she nodded and greeted him, “Grandpa Erickson.”

Not “Grandpa,” the way Tyler used to call him, but “Grandpa Erickson.”

The elderly couple both noticed the subtle change in address. There was a quiet resignation in their eyes.

For a moment, silence hung between the three of them.

But in the end, someone had to speak. After all, the reason Emilia was here was because Mrs. Erickson had asked her to discuss the divorce arrangements. Of course, she had also come to visit Mr. Erickson, but that wasn’t her real reason.

She and Tyler were already divorced. From now on, his family would be just that—his family. Nothing more.

“I think it’s time we actually talk,” he said quietly.

Emilia didn’t meet his eyes. Instead, she fixed her gaze somewhere off to the side, deliberately avoiding him.

“There’s nothing to discuss,” she replied, her voice calm. “I just want what belongs to the Dennis family.”

Tyler looked down, unable to meet her eyes. “I can’t give it to you,” he said softly.

He was afraid that if he handed over the Dennis family’s legacy, she would truly be gone from his life.

“Tyler.” Emilia finally lifted her eyes to his. “You promised me—it’s mine. It’s written in our divorce agreement, too. I have the right to take it with me.”

Tyler looked at her, grief etched across his face. “Then we’ll have to go through the courts.”

He wanted to delay things, just for five more months.

Emilia clenched her fists, forcing herself to steady her breath.

“You have no use for it,” she said. “Those encrypted files and that security system—I’m the only one who can actually make sense of them. It’s not something your family can just pick up and use. And it really has nothing to do with the Erickson Group. If you want a financial investments department, you can always build one that you control from the ground up.”
