Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 355

On the other side of the island, Emilia and Theodore wound their way through quiet streets until they reached a secluded restaurant tucked away from the bustling crowds.

The restaurant was remarkable—part of it floated above the waves, while the other part extended beneath the surface of the sea.

Without a word, Theodore led her down a spiral staircase. The further they descended, the dimmer the light became, until at last they emerged into a softly lit dining room encased in towering glass walls. All around them, the underwater world unfolded in gentle, mesmerizing motion—shoals of fish drifting by, their scales catching the glow of the overhead lights.

As soon as they sat down, Emilia noticed a handful of tiny fish hovering just outside their window, seemingly curious about their new visitors.

While Theodore exchanged a few words with the head chef, Emilia, unable to resist her curiosity, reached out and tapped lightly on the glass. The fish instantly scattered, flicking their tails as they darted away into the blue.

Theodore noticed, and after dismissing the server with a wave, turned to her with a small smile. “Give me your hand,” he said gently.

Emilia hesitated for a moment, then extended the hand she’d just used to try and touch the fish.

“Just your finger,” he prompted, and she obediently pointed her index finger.

Taking her hand in his, Theodore guided her fingertip to the glass. “Watch,” he whispered.

To Emilia’s astonishment, the fish reappeared, drawn in by some unseen force. In moments, a whole school of them crowded around her finger, swirling and darting as if enchanted, their colors rippling in the water like living jewels. The gentle motion of their bodies stirred the water, and the glow from the restaurant’s lights painted ribbons of blue across the scene, making Emilia feel as though she were lost in the heart of the ocean.

“Do you like it?” Theodore’s voice was low and warm, his palm reassuringly dry against her cool skin.

Emilia turned to see him smiling at her, and she couldn’t help but smile back, nodding without a second thought.

“How did you do that?” she asked, wonder clear in her voice.

“Do you have pictures?” she asked, her imagination painting the scene in her mind.

He smiled. “I’ll do you one better—I’ll show you.”

He extended his hand, palm up. Emilia glanced at it, hesitated for just a second, and then placed her own hand in his. His fingers curled gently around hers as he led her back up the stairs to the upper level.

By now, night had fallen completely. As they stepped outside, Emilia caught her breath. Not far from the shoreline, under the faint glow of lanterns, a small patch of rain was falling—except the raindrops shone with an otherworldly blue, glowing softly in the darkness, as if the stars themselves were raining down to earth.

She reached out, catching a few droplets in her palm and watched as they twinkled against her skin, bright and unreal—a dream spun out of fairy tales.

For a moment, Emilia forgot the world and simply stood there, bathed in blue light, lost in the wonder of it all.
