Wyatt let out a cold, dismissive laugh before turning on his heel and walking away.
Emilia remained where she was, poised and composed, meeting the barrage of reporters with a practiced, graceful smile.
The crowd buzzed with excitement and speculation.
Not far away, tucked into the shadows of a parked car, Tyler Erickson sat silently, his gaze fixed on the storefront across the street.
His eyes were a stormy, impenetrable black.
He couldn’t help but remember—years ago, when the Erickson Group was just beginning its transformation, she had been there by his side. She had brainstormed with him, offered strategies, and rolled up her sleeves to help make it all happen.
Now, all that devotion and brilliance was being given to another man.
Tyler lowered his eyes, pulling himself from the scene. Without a word, he gestured for Secretary Jensen to drive them away.
Back on the sidewalk, Emilia continued to field questions and pose for photos, oblivious to the car that had quietly pulled up behind her.
Inside, Theodore sat in the back seat, watching her in silence.
For weeks now, she had agreed to meet with him, but he never saw love in her eyes—only the camaraderie and trust of a partner or a close friend.
She enjoyed the surprises he brought her, and her eyes would light up for a brief moment, but he never saw himself reflected there.
Tyler was gone from her heart, that much was clear.
But something inside her remained empty.
How could he ever truly find his way in?
“Too impatient,” Theodore murmured to himself. “I need to take things slow, one step at a time. At least there’s no one else in her heart right now.”
That meant he still had a chance. She had even agreed to his invitation.
His mind wandered back to a memory—a sunlit afternoon at the port, where she stood, head bowed, carefully selecting spices while one of his sales assistants explained their uses.
He remembered her saying, “My boyfriend has trouble sleeping. I want to buy some calming herbs to help him rest better.”
His name still felt unfamiliar on her lips, but she told herself that someday, it would come naturally.
…
The Glenn Group’s new Blue Collection was, by all accounts, a resounding success.
The buzz was electric—clever marketing, dramatic reversals, Wyatt’s failed provocations, and an ever-growing crowd of onlookers eager to see the finished product. Interest was high, and people were lining up for a closer look.
Emilia’s clever “little stunts” had worked wonders; plenty of customers had already placed orders and planned to come back that evening, when the lighting would make the display even more dazzling.
Inside, the store was packed wall-to-wall.
A huge poster dominated one wall, featuring Emilia as the brand ambassador: she wore a flowing blue dress, a striking gemstone necklace at her throat, sapphire earrings to match, her hair billowing elegantly.
The scene wasn’t straight out of the movie, but anyone who saw it would immediately think of the legendary Heart of the Ocean.
A song, “Blue,” played in the background, tying the campaign together. Both the lyrics and melody were written by Emy, but for the campaign, Emilia’s voice carried the tune. The single was available through Emy’s label, and though Emilia’s and Emy’s voices sounded remarkably similar, there were subtle differences that a careful listener could pick out.
