Farewell to Love: The CEO's Desperate Chase novel Chapter 458

Emilia gazed at the man before her.

This was Theodore—gentle, endlessly considerate, never someone who would hurt her.

That thought settled her nerves. She smiled.

“Mm,” she murmured, and placed her hand over his as he cupped her cheek.

The ring on her finger caught the light, glinting softly.

All those things in the past—they were behind her now. Today, she was Theodore’s fiancée.

“Here, drink some warm water.” Theodore stepped away and poured her a glass.

Emilia reached for the glass and took it, casting her eyes to the scenery outside the window.

“Is this the Glenn Group?” she asked.

She was sitting in a small side room off his office—a cozy nook clearly meant for his midday breaks.

Theodore nodded with a gentle chuckle. He circled behind his desk, where a stack of documents lay spread open.

It was obvious he’d been working when he noticed something was off with her and hurried over.

She felt a strange sort of novelty at the thought.

Cradling her glass, Emilia stood and wandered around.

She’d been here before, but usually just for business—quick visits, never lingering. She had her own office, after all.

This time was different; she’d fallen asleep in the car, and Theodore had carried her up here.

Emilia walked over to the vast floor-to-ceiling windows and took another sip of water.

She couldn’t believe she’d managed to sleep for so long.

She remembered, years ago, Joyce McCarthy used to tease her about her uncanny ability to wake up the moment the subway reached her stop.

But the truth was, she’d never really been asleep—just drifting in a half-dream.

Thinking of those days made the present feel even more vivid and real.

Just as she was lost in thought—

Knock, knock!

He nodded his agreement.

So, Emilia slipped out.

“Miss Dennis, would you like me to walk with you?” Secretary Fraser asked when he saw her.

She waved him off with a smile. “I’ll just wander a bit.”

“Of course—oh, and here, this is for you.” Secretary Fraser handed her a leash.

At the other end was a plump ginger cat.

“Mr. Glenn said you like cats. This is Ginger, our company mascot. She’s friendly and pretty much owns the place—let her show you around,” Secretary Fraser explained.

Emilia’s interest was piqued. She knelt down and scratched Ginger under the chin.

“Meow!” Ginger nuzzled against her hand.

Bella would probably love this cat too, Emilia thought.

She nodded to Secretary Fraser and took the little basket of cat treats he offered, smiling as she set off down the corridor with Ginger leading the way.
