Fated To Three, Betrayed By All… Until She Rose novel Chapter 6

**Title: Healing Slowly But Surely By R. Joseph**

**Chapter 6: Filthy Liars**

Leilani.

“Leilani is leaving. I overheard her talking to someone on the phone.”

“And do you now eavesdrop on my conversations too, besides making my life miserable?” I shot back, a surge of anger twisting in my gut like a coiled snake ready to strike.

For countless nights, I had clung to the hope that they would finally engage with me. I had whispered my prayers to the moon goddess, yearning for the moment when they might look my way, truly see me. But those dreams had been dashed; their eyes were clouded by an overwhelming affection for Chalice, blinding them to everything else, including me.

And now this?

It felt as if they were accusing me of treachery simply for wanting something more for myself. For daring to leave?

I shook my head in disbelief. “It’s none of your business.”

I noticed Zevran freeze, his expression a mix of surprise and something darker, before Kael stepped closer, his fingers encircling my neck with a grip that was both possessive and threatening. He glared down at me, irritation etched into every line of his face. “You won’t speak to us like that. Do you understand?”

Instantly, my eyes brimmed with tears, and my throat constricted as his hand tightened around my windpipe, the air being stolen from my lungs.

From where I stood, his gaze was a storm of hatred.

A deep-rooted hatred that seeped into my bones, chilling me to the core.

“You hate me,” I rasped, the words barely escaping my lips, but he remained silent, his lack of response echoing my fears. “But I never did anything to you.”

“You don’t have to do anything to us for us to hate you.” Caelum’s voice cut through from behind Kael, dripping with disdain. “We see how you treat your twin sister, and we would rather die than mate with a wolfless, hateful bitch like you.”

Those words hit me like a physical blow.

It stung more than I could have imagined.

“You think I’m the hateful one?” I laughed incredulously, the sound bitter and sharp. “Just wait until you see how truly nasty your precious Chalice can be when no one is watching!”

Zevran scoffed, his derision palpable. “Says the wench who attempted to kill her twin sister not once, but twice, and then went on to murder her grandmother!”

Oh, that was the last straw!

With tears blurring my vision, I blinked furiously and, in a moment of desperation, I bit down on Kael’s hand. He gasped, a choked sound escaping him, and released me so abruptly that I stumbled backward, colliding painfully with the cupboard behind me.

Pain erupted in my skull like a thousand needles, and I cried out, instinctively clutching the back of my head as tears streamed down my cheeks.

“She’s not going anywhere,” Caelum declared, his tone so certain it was as if he were announcing the weather. “She only said that to get your attention, and look—she did.”

Oh, you foolish idiots!

“Get out!” I groaned, feeling the warm trickle of blood begin to snake down my neck, my vision blurring further. “Get out of my room now!”

At that moment, someone burst into my room, and I didn’t need to see their face to know it was Chalice. She shot me a dark look before turning her gaze to the triplets. In the sweetest, most infuriating voice I had ever heard from her, she drawled, “Y’all, let Leilani be. She’s still feeling so bad about grandma’s death. Don’t disturb her!”

Her feigned concern, the way their expressions shifted as soon as she arrived, and the way my heart twisted painfully when Kael brought her hand to his lips—the same hand he had just used to choke me—sent fresh tears spilling from my eyes.

I growled, “GET OUT!”

But my voice was drowned out by the chaos erupting outside. Screams and cries pierced the air as panic spread like wildfire.
