Fated To Three, Betrayed By All… Until She Rose novel Chapter 90

**Healing Slowly But Surely**
**By R. Joseph**

A peculiar fixation had taken root within me, one that revolved around the enigmatic figure of Leilani.

**Chalice.**

The tension in the air was palpable as Gavin finally broke the silence, his voice laced with defiance. “I don’t have a mate,” he declared, though I could see the lie hanging in the air like a thick fog.

His gaze locked onto mine, and in that fleeting moment, I caught a glimpse of something unfamiliar—a flicker of irritation, perhaps even anger, simmering beneath the surface.

My parents turned to him, disbelief etched across their faces, but he merely shrugged, dismissing their concern as he redirected his focus back to me. “I don’t have a mate. Sure, I met a girl. But that’s where it ends… and it’s none of your damn business!”

I couldn’t help but tease him, my curiosity getting the better of me. “Why does it feel like you’re protecting your mate or something? Are you hiding her?” As the words left my lips, I noticed his expression shift, darkening like a storm cloud gathering overhead.

“Who even told you all that?” he spat, his tone sharp enough to cut through the tension.

“Kael,” I replied, my heart racing.

“Then maybe you should go to him too. Protect or hide him… or whatever nonsense you just said!” His words were like a slap across the face, shocking me into silence.

I could hardly believe the venom in his voice. He never spoke to me like this. “You don’t have to be such a jerk about it! And I don’t need to protect Kael! He can take care of himself!”

Gavin scoffed, the sound dripping with disdain. “If he doesn’t need protection like you just claimed, then maybe you should ask him why I found him at Leilani’s porch this evening, talking to her like she’s the one he truly desires and not you.”

His words landed like a punch to the gut, knocking the breath out of me.

I staggered, feeling the ground shift beneath my feet as I fought to regain my balance. Gavin stood his ground, unwavering, while my mother rushed to my side, her face a mask of concern as she helped me back to my feet. She shot Gavin a furious glare.

“Why do you have to say such hurtful things just to get back at your sister? Why are you being so impossible today?”

Gavin rolled his eyes at her, chewing on his chicken breast as if the conversation didn’t matter. Once he finished, he dropped his fork with a clatter and rose to his feet. Our eyes met for a brief moment, and then he murmured, “I didn’t say anything that isn’t true. And if you doubt me, ask Alpha Kael yourself.”

At that, our parents froze, and I felt as though the very foundation of my existence was crumbling.

Did Leilani say something to Kael?

Was that the reason behind his earlier question?

A realization hit me like a tidal wave. I recalled the scent that clung to Kael’s clothes when he arrived—normal, yes, but laced with something distinctly different. Something feminine. And now, I understood that the source of that scent was none other than Leilani.

My blood simmered with rage.

Tears streamed down my cheeks as the weight of the truth pressed down on me. I shook my head firmly, trying to dispel the thoughts, but I turned away, unable to face the reality unfolding before me.

As I walked away, I could hear my parents calling after me, their voices frantic as they tried to catch up. But Gavin? He remained where he was, an immovable figure.

Had Leilani confided in him as well?

Was I truly on the brink of losing everything I had worked so hard to build?
