"Mom, I've got it. I'll make sure she's not allowed into the office if she tries to come by," Owen said, rolling his eyes at the mere mention of Megan. He couldn't be less interested in Ruby anymore. Back when he cherished her like a rare gem, she treated him like dirt beneath her shoes. Now that she regretted it and wanted to patch things up, he was long gone. Did she really think he couldn't find another woman? He was simply devoted, that was all. He loved the wrong person, but he could correct that and find happiness for a lifetime.
"Alright, that's all for now. I'll let you go back to work," Olina said, not wanting to interrupt her son's work any longer, and promptly hung up.
"Megan wants you to check on Ruby? Are you thinking about going?" Cecilia asked, raising an eyebrow.
Owen put his phone down and playfully pinched Cecilia's cheek. "Are you trying to push your man toward another woman?"
"We're done, and that's that. Why would I see her again? If I go, rumors will start flying, and even if you trust me, it would still hurt you," Owen said earnestly. "Cecilia, my future is with you. I don't want you to get hurt, and I hope you'll hold onto me tightly, not sell me off to the highest bidder."
Cecilia stifled a laugh, touched by his sincerity. She hugged his waist and assured him, "Don't worry, Owen. You're my man. Unless I decide otherwise, no one can take you away."
Owen felt content, knowing his love wasn't in vain. "Cecilia, you can't leave me, okay? We're in this for the long haul."
With a playful smile, Cecilia teased, "Well, that depends on how you behave. If you don't shape up, I might just trade you in. A bad husband is not worth keeping around."
"I promise I'll be the model husband," Owen said before leaning in to claim a sweet kiss as his husband's privilege.
Meanwhile, over at Skywatch, Lucinda was driving Kayla and Ashley up the wall with envy. After breakfast, Lucinda, with her beautiful mom in tow, gathered her two aunts and a small army of bodyguards for a shopping spree.
Stefan didn't tag along. Lucinda felt that with just women on the trip, having him there would be awkward. So, she sent him off to visit their company's branch in Skywatch instead. With a dozen bodyguards, Stefan was more at ease.
Janice, a true Skywatch native, knew the city well despite her long years of absence. As the matriarch of the Blue family, she seldom went out shopping herself, relying on others to bring her what she needed.
Kayla and Ashley, not as prominent but frequent shoppers, led the way for the mother-daughter duo. Their first stop was the evening gown boutique, as ordered by the grandmother, who wanted Lucinda to have a few lovely dresses for upcoming events.
Having been the lady of the Anderson family for a while, Lucinda's taste had evolved significantly. She picked out dresses that fit her perfectly, and even helped her mom find several that suited her well.
"Lucy, Grandma said just a few dresses would do," Ashley pointed out, unable to resist commenting.
The boutique, frequented by the Blue family's women, boasted high-quality and high-priced creations. Kayla, ever the peacemaker, chimed in, "Ashley, Lucy just got back. She needs gowns for events, and custom orders take time. Buying a few ready-to-wear pieces makes sense."
Lucinda, unfazed, pulled out the black card her grandmother had given her. "Kayla's right. I just got back, and there's no time for custom pieces. Besides, Mom hasn't been out much either. We're entitled to a little splurge."
"Charge it!" Lucinda declared with a flourish.
