Faux Vows, True Desires novel Chapter 521

As they stepped out of the high-end boutique, the bodyguards were already laden with shopping bags. They carried the bags full of clothes to the car first. From the way Miss Lucinda was going about, it seemed like she had plans to buy a lot more.

Lucinda linked her arm with her mother, Janice, as they strolled down the sunlit street, their spirits even brighter than the clear blue sky. "Mom, whatever you want to buy, let's go get it," Lucinda said, her voice as cheerful as a spring morning.

Janice smiled warmly, "I don't need anything, darling. You just get whatever your heart desires."

Janice was secretly amused by how Lucinda had deftly turned down her two sisters-in-law's attempts to take advantage of her. Her daughter, though she grew up in the Moore family without a care in the world, was sharp as a tack. Lucinda had specifically invited the two sisters-in-law for a shopping spree, knowing full well it would drive them mad with envy. Oh, the look on their faces! It was like they'd swallowed a lemon.

"When I returned, I only brought one handbag. With our status now, we should be carrying something a bit more upscale. Can’t be walking around with something that doesn't match our style. Mom, let's go buy some bags."

Janice indulgently agreed, "Sure." Honestly, she had a room full of designer bags, but she wouldn't burst her daughter's bubble for the world.

"Later, we should check out some cars too. Stefan and I need a car for getting around. It's much more convenient to have our own set of wheels." She hadn’t driven in ages. Ever since that joyride with Stefan where she gave him quite the scare, he insisted on handling the driving himself, claiming it was because she was the Anderson family's leading lady and deserved to be driven around. Truthfully, he was just worried about her reckless driving.

Lucinda admitted she had a need for speed, which had indeed left Stefan a bit wobbly-kneed. But to keep her husband at ease, she obediently stayed away from the driver’s seat. Nonetheless, she wanted to buy him a car. How could the esteemed son-in-law of the Blue family not have a luxury car of his own?

"Sure," Janice replied, her voice full of warmth. Whatever Lucinda suggested, Janice was on board. The Blue family had several garages filled with luxury cars, and Stefan could use any of them. Still, Lucinda wanted to spend the matriarch’s money, partly to annoy the rest of the family. She could just imagine the old lady back home getting pinged with every card transaction, her expression darkening like storm clouds. Ha!

Lucinda knew the matriarch was trying to win her over with gifts and compensation. Well, she’d take them all with a smile. Only a fool would say no to such generosity.

"Kayla, Ashley, I'm thinking of buying a few bags. You know where Skywatch's biggest boutique is, right?" Lucinda asked with a smile.

Ashley said nothing, while Kayla forced a smile and replied, "There are boutiques all around here. Just ahead is the Hermès store."

"Thanks, Kayla." Lucinda thanked her with a smile, then continued on, arm-in-arm with her mother.
