Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) novel Chapter 2687

“Where’s Lambert?”

Manley stepped aside, revealing Lambert sitting on the sofa, tied up.

Their eyes met. Estelle was speechless.

Lambert, however, was thrilled. “Stella! We finally meet again!”

Estelle walked over and personally untied the ropes. “What are you doing here?” she asked.

Lambert stood up, his deep brown eyes soft with a smile. “To see you, of course.”

Manley watched, annoyed. “Hey, just talk. Don’t make that disgusting face. I’m still here, you know,” he grumbled.

Lambert ignored him, his focus entirely on Estelle. “I wanted to come find you sooner, but I was delayed helping Gab with a few things.”

A thought occurred to Estelle. “Were you the one who sent me a message during the New Year?”

Lambert nodded immediately. “That was me.”

Estelle smiled faintly. “Where are you staying?” As the host, she felt obligated to show some hospitality to a guest who had come from so far away.

“At a hotel,” Lambert replied.

Estelle nodded and glanced at the time. “Let me treat you to lunch.”

“Great!” Lambert grinned. “I’m in your city, so you call the shots.”

“I’m coming too!” Manley cut in, whining playfully at Estelle. “How come you didn’t offer to treat me?”

Lambert scoffed. “Didn’t you say this was your turf? Why would you need Stella to treat you on your own turf?”

“This is between us. What right do you have to interfere?” Manley shot back, gritting his teeth.

Manley started the car and glanced back at Estelle. “What do you feel like eating?”

Estelle turned to Lambert. “What do you want to eat?”

Manley, steering the car, smirked. “That’s right. Mr. Brennan is our guest. We should ask him first.”

Ignoring Manley’s smugness, Lambert deliberately smiled at Estelle. “We lived and ate together for so many days. You know my tastes. You choose.”

Manley’s face darkened. “What’s that supposed to mean?” he demanded.

Lambert, of course, wouldn’t tell him, wearing a look that screamed, I have a secret with Estelle and I’m not telling you.

Estelle, tired of their childish antics, didn’t want to say another word. Ignoring the tense standoff in the front, she pulled out her phone and sent a text to Jonathan.

[Lambert is in J City. I’m taking him to lunch.]
