’A fitting name huh.’ He inwardly mused to himself.
The guard quickly verified with his fellow soldiers inside. Moments later, the guard nodded and promptly opened a smaller, more manageable side gate, pointing them inside respectfully,
"Welcome, Young Nobles. Many students from Thunderpeak Royal Academy have already arrived ahead of you. The demons haven’t attacked for about a week now so the students haven’t had the chance to fight against the demons yet. But the next wave won’t be far off. I suggest you quickly make your preparations. The city needs whatever help it can get."
Orion nodded his head gratefully for the goodwill that the guard showed him and replied to him with a sincere smile, "Thank you for your efforts, and please continue protecting the city vigilantly."
Stepping through the gates, Orion immediately noticed a faint aura scanning their bodies. He raised an eyebrow as he noticed that this was the same thing that was at the gate of Thunderpeak Royal Academy.
’I see, so they also have this thing here? That’s good, at least the demons won’t be able to infiltrate here then.’ While thinking to himself, he completely stepped inside the city. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺
And inside, the atmosphere was very different than the broken scene outside. Within Blood Flame City, the atmosphere wasn’t as bleak as Orion and the others had anticipated.
On the other hand, the soldiers marched the roads in formations, heading towards the walls with heavy steps, but these heavy steps were also a way to make the citizens in the city rest assured about the danger that lay outside the city gates.
And the civilians weren’t idle as well, they provided supplies and provisions from the storerooms to the soldiers so they could distribute it to other soldiers. Their faces were tense yet filled with a resolute will to survive this disaster.
And after over a year of facing this situation, even the most timid people in the city had hardened their wills to fight against demons even if they were to die.
Fiora glanced around, softly commenting with mild admiration, "The people here are much more resilient than I thought. They seem to be adapting to the siege of the city and haven’t left like the others. They are quite united now."
Rina nodded seriously, her expression showing respect, "Indeed. It seems the demons haven’t managed to shake their resolve, or rather the demons have shown them enough despair that they decided to fight against them."
Orion nodded his head hearing their words, "The best quality about humans is their adaptability. Even in the harshest environments, they will find a way to survive. Otherwise, we would have long lost our lands to the other races if we didn’t have this adaptability."
Rina and Fiora nodded their heads in understanding as Rina asked, "Then where should we head first?"
He thought for a bit and said, "Well, let’s first find Nyss, Arya and the others. They arrived here first. And if I remember correctly, this territory is under Duke Blackwell, so Nyss should have more details regarding the situation here. Let’s meet up before deciding."
"How will we find them?" Fiora softly asked.
Orion lightly smiled, "They should get the news about our arrival soon, I don’t think those children of nobles won’t have the network to get the news haha. They have spies everywhere after all, and this area is under Nyss’ family, they should arrive here soon. Let’s head deeper in the city first, we should be able to meet up with the others."
The other two giggled at his words, fully agreeing with him. Without wasting any time, the three of them headed deeper in the city.
Along the way, they saw that most of the shops were open but the business wasn’t doing very well these days. But the shop owners didn’t have much work to do so they were just swatting flies while sitting in their shops.
