This is the first time tonight Caleb Lockwood has given Wendy Linton a proper glance.
Wendy Linton’s makeup and outfit are quite the opposite of Serena Jennings.
Serena gives off the impression of being stunningly beautiful but chooses to keep a low profile, not wanting to be the center of attention.
Wendy, on the other hand, always tries her best to stand out and be high-profile, no matter the occasion.
"President Lockwood, may I have the honor of your company for a drink?"
With her fiery red lips forming a radiant smile, Wendy’s way of hitting on someone is very direct.
"I don’t think Miss Linton needs me to accompany her."
Caleb Lockwood glanced slightly sideways; Aaron Linton, Jade Shaw, Arthur Lockwood, and Lilian Young were all looking in their direction.
Wendy deliberately flicked her hair, exuding a kind of coquettish flirtatiousness.
"They’re having their grown-up conversation; it won’t affect President Lockwood drinking with me."
Her slender, jade-like hand fell on the back of Caleb’s hand, and he looked down silently.
After a moment, he gave Wendy a cold smile.
"But I don’t want to accompany you."
In the middle of a crowd, Caleb unceremoniously shook off Wendy’s hand.
This action drew the attention of others.
Wendy’s face immediately darkened.
Caleb could simply have withdrawn his hand, but he deliberately chose to shake it off with a big gesture.
Under Wendy’s resentful gaze, Caleb turned and left Cloud Heights without looking back.
Caleb chased after Serena all the way out, reaching the entrance of the Isabelle Tower where he finally saw Serena’s silhouette.
Though the elegant black evening gown wrapped Serena tightly, her tall and slim back showcased a graceful, clean aesthetic to its fullest.
This back, beautiful as a porcelain vase, entered a white Lexus before Caleb could speak.
Caleb’s thin lips instantly tightened into a sharp line.
He knew that car belonged to Ethan White.
Serena hadn’t lied to him.
She really had Ethan come pick her up.
Caleb felt like he had been punched, his features twisted, a mixture of loneliness, unwillingness, and heartache etched onto his handsome face, painting a complex emotion.
He stood at the entrance of the Isabelle Tower for a long time, as silent as a pillar.
The lobby manager recognized Caleb and came over proactively to greet him.
"President Lockwood, is there anything you need help with?"
Caleb, with a grim face, turned his head to look at the lobby manager.
"Are you married?"
Lobby manager: "...Ah?"
He didn’t understand Caleb’s question, but judging from Caleb’s expression, he certainly didn’t want to be asked again.
"No, no, I’m not..."
"Do you have a girlfriend?"
Caleb continued to ask, making the lobby manager sweat.
Had he offended Caleb, or had Caleb switched careers to population census?
"Yes... I have a girlfriend."
"Then what would you do if you upset your girlfriend?"
"I’d coax her!"
The lobby manager answered without hesitation.
"How would you coax her?"
"Sweet talk, compliment her beauty, call her my darling, tell her I love her."
This method never failed the lobby manager.
Yet, Caleb’s sharp brows were furrowed tightly.
"What if that doesn’t work?"
"Buy her gifts."
